I know it's early to think about the World Cup but Roy has indicated that he will choose his squad in less than 2 weeks time. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27219051Who should he take ? Who should he ditch ? Could be quite a debate.

I'll get the ball rolling and say that Andros Townsend should be the second man on the plane after Gerrard, he could be a major, major player for us.

Gaz he is having an operation in the morning and is out for 11 weeks! Well, that's my knowledge of the Premier League and all who sail in her exposed for what it is...... minimal. Proud of the fact too.

Henderson seems to have done enough to show he could be a bit part player.
Sturridge for Deffo. Agree with Townsend. Lallana, yes, jury out on Lambert, Wickham may be a better bet (saw him last year for U21s - man amongst boys). Sterling will catch a few eyes.
Baines at the back, not sure about centre backs yet (Cahill probably). Johnson in attacking mode not full back !!!
Wider squad - Shelvey ? Barkley ? Welbeck ? Wilshere, Luke Shaw. Caulker. Chamberlain - yes. Huddlestone.
Lampard as the squad-father (non-playing) Rooney if fit, Gerrard is a shoe-in. Hart - no real competition.
Past it - Cole, Terry, Milner, Barry. Parker, Downing.
Not easy this picking a team.

Goalkeepers; Joe Hart, John Ruddy, Fraser Forster.
Defenders; Leighton Baines, Luke Shaw, Kyle Walker, Glen Johnson, Gary Cahill, Phil Jagielka, Phil Jones.
Midfielders; Steven Gerrard, Ross Barkley, Jack Wilshire, Michael Carrick, Jordan Henderson, Raheem Sterling, Adam Johnson, Alex Oxlaide-Chamberlain.
Forwards; Wayne Rooney, Daniel Sturridge, Danny Welbeck, Rickie Lambert, Jermaine Defoe.
That's who I'd take.

Players I wouldn't take - Gerrard, Lampard, Cole, Terry, Defoe.
We aren't going to win the world cup so i'd let the younger players have a run out this time around to give them experience for the next world cup when they'll be ready to take on the world.

On form alone I'd consider trying to get John Terry. The guy is an absolute c*ck but he's had a great season for Chelsea and in the Euro's he was one of our best players I thought.
I know what you mean about Youth though. With some of the players we've got coming through if we can keep them on the straight and narrow and if we can aid their development we might have a fair old crack at the next World Cup or Euro 2020!

I'd be happy with your squad Fudgie, with the exceptions of Jones, Carrick and Johnson, who I would replace with Dawson (as experienced cover at CB), Lampard (as experienced cover at CM)and Lallana (as a sub who can change a game).
It seems like Walker might be crocked, so I'd take Flanagan for the bench.
I really hope Lambert gets to go, but I also think it might be worth taking one of either Crouch or Carroll for the bench. If we're a goal down with 10 to go and we've tried everything else, why not?

I was torn between Carrick and Lampard, however Lampard seems to be incapable of playing alongside Gerrard but in the qualifiers Carrick and Gerrard seemed a decent partnership!
Shame about Walker, I see him as a proper talent, I would definitely draught in Flanagan if that is the case.
I know he won't get a sniff but Matt Jarvis from West Ham has impressed me whenever I've seen him, played for England a couple of times whilst at Wolves.
