Agreed. I'd part ways with Lampard AND Gerrard. They both had their chances and failed. Disagree. Leave Lampard, take Gerrard. this ^^, 100% top class Captain material, and should have had the England armband for as long as he's had the Liverpool one. The rest of the squad is swimming with 'meh' as always, and the fact that Lambert is in there shows exactly why we're not a force in world football. I'm pleased for him, he's worked really hard to get where he is today, but I really don't think he's got what it takes to breach the best defences in the World. Barkley and Sterling are the only ones that give me any hope of seeing anything worth getting out of my seat for. As for taking that goal hanging get Lampard and leaving out Cole...........

also agree about the load of 'meh' - jones, smalling, welbeck, milner, lampard...but i'm pretty pleased to see the young talent that's going. he could have been more conservative and taken carrick and cleverley and defoe, but they're only stand-bys. i'm interested to see what henderson and lallana and wilshere have to offer in a tournament. sterling, shaw and barkly are very likely to be england players in ten years' time, but i'm glad they're getting a crack at it now as well.
no expectancy, but then i don't feel a load of blame building up in me ready for when they capitulate. we're not calling this 'the golden generation', but there are still some talents in the squad that i'm very interested in seeing.

Excellent summing up as usual, mate.
