Thanks for the report. It must have been difficult playing in those circumstances but clearly what Ian's family wanted. Fingers crossed for a full recovery.
Not sure that a like is the correct emotion so I'll refrain.

Greater Manchester Over 65s League Nov session
Not a good day at the office ! Thank goodness we had a great September to swim in on (literally as it poured down all day).
vs Bolton D 0-0 (best we played today against the league leaders, The only points they dropped today) vs Panthers D 0-0 (fairly even game but a team we should be beating. Their only point today) 20 minute break between these games. Wet and very cold. vs Fleetwood L 0-3 (horror show. All three goals from 2 on 1 with our centre back and shots from the edge of the area. Suspicion of running for first 2 but we were well beaten) vs Salcom D 0-0 (again a team we should be beating but I think we all wanted to get off the pitch and go home)
Table Bolton (+10pts) 29 Blackpool (+3pts) 20 Fleetwood (+7pts) 12 Salcom (+5pts) 11 Panthers (+1pt) 9
Looking like runners up spot for the 3rd season "running"

If the weather there was anything like that in Macc today, fair play to you and the lads for playing at all, Lennie! And well done on finishing second, despite a disappointing day by your high standards.

Greater Manchester WFL December Sessions
Thurs 1st Dec Over 60's Division 2
Again starting the day in 3rd place with the developing `squad including our new keeper Chris between the sticks
vs Bolton W 1-0 vs Carlisle L 1-2 vs Bury D 0-0 vs Preston W 1-0
Final Table:-
Bury (+6) total 25 Bolton (+5) total 24 Blackpool (+7) total 22 Carlisle (+8) total 18 Preston (+0) total 10
A fairly even month then with Bury coming out on top to earn a first time return to League 1 where they will replace relegated Fleetwood (who were promoted last time !). Blackpool's best return out of the 4 sessions to remain in a comfortable 3rd. Another new player attains the age of 60 this month to further strengthen this squad. (ex-semi pro rugby league player !)

Greater Manchester WFL December Sessions
Wed 7th Dec Over 70's Division 2 (20 minute games)
Shocker of a day at Heywood for the older generation squad. Played like we had never seen each other before. Defence on walkabouts, no shots on their goals, loose passing and control, falling over own feet and ball in critical areas and giving 3 one-on one goals away to excellent centre forwards.
vs Bury L 0-2 (2 down before we had a serious touch and they could have had 2 even earlier. Should have been 7 or 8 really) vs Rochdale L 0-3 (1st a shot through a ruck of plays not closed down and deflected. A cheap penalty and then a defensive slip to leave an easy slot from close in. Again could have been 7 or 8) vs Tameside D 1-1 (Again a defensive slip when carrying the ball out leaving a toe poke finish from the edge of the box. A late penalty gave us a deserved draw though)
League Table Bury (+7pts) 23 Champions on goal difference Rochdale (+7pts) 23 Blackpool (+1pt) 10 Tameside (+1pt) 9
Fortunately Tameside also lost their 2 opening games so we held onto League status by our fingertips. Not sure we have done ourselves a favour staying up as a very strong Corinthians side have already won League 2 promotion with 3 games to play.
But, as we finished the Sept session with only 5 fit men and struggled to put a team out in October (due to illness, old age, injuries and holidays) we live to fight another season in Spring 2023.

The break should help Lennie, things can only get better
