Ian is home after having a personal defib fitted (a kind of pace maker I presume).
Christmas with his family and he is talking of a return to WF action in March !!!
The wonders of modern medicine.

Greater Manchester Over 65s League Dec session
Postponed until January due to adverse weather conditions,
Sensible decision (yesterday) given the fact that teams travel from Fleetwood, Blackpool, Wakefield and Carlisle. -6 on the car thermometer was the rubber stamp on the deal this morning.
Certainly helped me as I am still struggling with a wrist injury from last week. Didn't fancy risking the knees, elbows and hips on a frozen surface. Happy Christmas all Walking Footballers everywhere.

Definitely the right decision, Banksy. Hopefully your wrist will be fully healed when the football returns in the new year!

PS. Getting out my brass instrument commonly used in classical and jazz ensembles. Yours truly picked up the Over 65s Manager's Player of the Year Award at the Presentation Evening last Friday. Second year running !! Or not running, technically.

Greater Manchester Over 65s League (Div 2) Dec session (postponed until January due to ice and snow)
Weather not much better yesterday as we played through 8 or 9 rainstorms in the 2 hour session.
We started the session 9 points behind leaders Bolton and 8 points ahead of 3rd place Fleetwood.
vs Bolton D 0-0 (again we played well against the league leaders, a very even contest) vs Panthers D 0-0 (A team we should have beaten. Didn't take our chances) vs Fleetwood D 0-0 (After last time outs horror show we turned on a real performance and unlucky not to win by a country mile. Hit the post twice and great save from their keeper). vs Salcom D 0-0 (again a team we should have beaten, not clinical enough in front of goals)
So, a fairly easy day for me apart from being the wettest and coldest playing football for a long while. The hot shower being the best part of the morning apart from picking up the runners-up trophy for the third season on the trot and seeing "Isle of Man Ian" back on his feet in attendance (not playing yet). He looked really well. We presented him with a bill for the shirt that had to be cut off him in the hospital !
Table Bolton (+2 pts) 31pts Blackpool (+4pts) 24 Fleetwood (+7pts) 19 Salcom (+7pts) 18 Panthers (+5pts) 14
Bolton crept over the line and we held Fleetwood at bay after their 2 win opening sequence on the day. We remain in our comfort zone. In the 16 game season we won 5 drew 9 lost 2 with only 7 scored and 4 conceded (3 in one nightmare game against Fleetwood in November when we all switched off together.) So another 14 clean sheets to add to the total.
The running total since our covid return stands at:-
P 48 W 15 D 26 L 7 For 24 Against 15 (4 to Kingsmaid in 3 games out of 4, 8 to Fleetwood over 4 games out of 12, and 1 each from Preston (4 games), Panthers (12 games) and Bolton (4 games). Preston, Kingsmaid and Bolton winning promotion each time.
Bragging time now:-
My personal count is ---- P 44 W 14 D 24 L 6 (3 to Kingsmaid, 2 to Fleetwood, 1 to Bolton) For 23 against 12 (3 penalties). Clean sheets - 35/44 #SMUG GIT.
