WFLA Inter League Competitions played at Redditch United FC
Over 70s (representing Great Manchester WFL)
GMWFL 2 S Wales 0 (miss a penalty and hit the posts 4 times) GMWFL 2 Dorset 0 (cruised the game) GMWFL 2 Oxfordshire 0 (on paper the toughest game, proved not to be) GMWFL 0 Birmingham 0 (we could afford to lose this and still be champions)
GMWFL 10 pts Oxfordshire 9 pts
A very easy day for me and I could have taken my deck chair and played cards. Brilliant team to play behind and I only had to be sharp in the last game (twice in 30 seconds) to keep the run of clean sheets. An enjoyable debut for the "old gits" side and a nice little Southern League Premier ground to play on.
Our 65s were runners up in their section on Saturday and our 60s won the 3rd/4th place play off on Sunday morning.

Congrats, mate!

GMWFL Over 65s - May session - Spring Season 2024 Division 1
Good set of results this month for the Senior Seasiders as the whole division closes up showing the minute differences between success and failure.
Blackpool 1 Bury 0 (saved a penalty early on and the team seemed lifted by it) Blackpool 1 Corinthians (penalty for us this time, neatly belted away. Two good saves late on) Blackpool 0 Bolton 0 (crucial save in the last minute, but badly twisted my left (good) knee get down low with a change of direction) Blackpool 0 Wakefield 1 (sadly ran out of steam against the league leaders but conceded probably one of the best ever goals scored at our end of the pitch)
League table
Wakefield (+5pts) Total 19 Bury (+4pts) Total 17 Corinthians (+5pts) Total 15 Bolton (+6pts) Total 13 Blackpool (+7pts) Total 12
All to play for in June. Relegation still threatens but we recovered from this position in December. The difference a goal scored makes in being able to control and manage the game is wonderful.
