I was just wondering, Have Wrexham been promoted yet? Because I've not heard or seen anything it about since 4:46 on Saturday afternoon!!
"Welcome to the 10 o'clock news with me Sir Trevor McDonald, Tonights top story, Wrexham have finished 2nd in league 2 behind a team called Stoke-port Country I think it's pronounced, winning promotion to league 1.
And in other news, World war 4 has kicked off and we all have 4 minutes to live"

I think I would rather go all the way to Plymouth than horrible Stoke !

Who cares ?
I will update this later though, as there is still some interest in the play-offs. Even down to 13th can still qualify.

THE FINAL COUNTDOWN
The April 17th update:-
County p44 pts 89 max 95 (Accrington H, Wrexham A) CHAMPIONS ..................................................................................................... Mansfield P44 pts 82 max 88 (Gillingham H, Barrow A) PROMOTED Wrexham p44 pts 82 max 88 (Crewe A, County H) PROMOTED ...................................................................................................... MK Dons p44 pts 74 max 80 (Harrogate A, Sutton H) PLAY-OFFS Crewe p44 pts 70 max 76 (Wrexham H, Colchester A) Barrow p43 pts 68 max 77 (Doncaster A, Bradford H,Mansfield H) Crawley p44 pts 66 max 72 (Sutton A, Grimsby H) ................................. Walsall p44 pts 65 max 71 (Bradford H, Wimbledon A) Doncaster p43 pts 64 max 73 (Colchester A, Barrow A, Gillingham A) Gillingham p44 pts 63 max 69 (Mansfield A, Doncaster H) Wimbledon p44 pts 62 max 68 (Tranmere A, Walsall H)
All done and dusted at the top. Still a dog fight for play-off spots but they are all a country mile behind the top in points and ability. I still have an eye on Doncaster doing the "late run and push for promotion" job. Crawley have a couple of simple games one would think to join MK Dons. Barrow look like they could edge Crewe out of the reckoning.
Plus it's still 2 for a possible 7 in the championship to join Rotherham in OUR league.
Just hope the lads haven't partied too hard and let a couple of statistics go missing on Saturday. ie most wins, least defeats, highest goals, best defence, top of the clean sheets.
I remember 66-67 season well. We went to EP for a party and see the cup presented before the game against rock-bottom Lincol, and we got our pants pulled down ! We lost 4-5 unbelievably. (Southport 2nd, Barrow 3rd, Tranmere 4th, Crewe 5th, Wrexham 7th !)

Wrexham beat Crewe 0-3 - Crewe are slumping at just the wrong time: mind - Barrow are also slumping and today they face Donny who are on a real late surge.
I reckon Crewe have enough points to be in the playoffs but I doubt they get to the final, maybe if they face Barrow and squeak through. MKD have got to be the red hot favourites to come through, although if they face whoever gets the last playoff spot, especially if it's Donny then who knows?
I hate the playoffs though: 3 consecutive playoff campaigns under St Danny of Bergara were all I could take.

HE FINAL COUNTDOWN
The April 20th update:-
County p45 pts 92 max 95 (Wrexham A) CHAMPIONS ..................................................................................................... Mansfield P45 pts 85 max 88 (Barrow A) PROMOTED Wrexham p45 pts 85 max 88 (County H) PROMOTED ...................................................................................................... MK Dons p45 pts 77 max 80 (Sutton H) PLAY-OFFS Crewe p45 pts 70 max 73 (Colchester A) Barrow p44 pts 68 max 74 (Bradford H,Mansfield H) Crawley p45 pts 67 max 70 (Grimsby H) ................................. Doncaster p44 pts 67 max 73 (Colchester A, Gillingham A) Walsall p45 pts 65 max 68 (Wimbledon A) Bradford p44 pts 63 max 69 (Barrow H, Newport H)
It's goodbye to Gillingham and Wimbledon then, and hello Bradford back in with an outside chance. 6 teams are playing for the 3 places in the play-offs alongside MKDs.
Crew, Barrow, Crawley and Walsall are the latest to enter the "let's stay in the comfort of League 2" club mode.
Barrow v Bradford on Tuesday could prove a little more information for those interested.

HE FINAL COUNTDOWN
The April 25th update:-
County p45 pts 92 max 95 (Wrexham A) CHAMPIONS ..................................................................................................... Mansfield P45 pts 85 max 88 (Barrow A) PROMOTED Wrexham p45 pts 85 max 88 (County H) PROMOTED ...................................................................................................... MK Dons p45 pts 77 max 80 (Sutton H) PLAY-OFFS Doncaster p45 pts 70 max 73 (Gillingham A) Crewe p45 pts 70 max 73 (Colchester A) Barrow p44 pts 68 max 71 (Mansfield H) ............................................ Crawley p45 pts 67 max 70 (Grimsby H) Bradford p45 pts 66 max 69 (Newport H) Walsall p45 pts 65 max 68 (Wimbledon A)
Don't think anyone will be wanting to play Donny at the moment. Walsall need a miracle. Barrow look to have blown it. Crewe hanging on by their fingernails. Bradford will be hoping for games to go their way.
Glad we are not in the dogfight this year.

So it's all done and dusted.
Barrow win the race to stay in League 2 leaving the Plastic Dons to play Creeping Crawley and Racing Donny to take on Sleepy Crewe.
Not sure any of those 4 deserve to go up looking at the "goal difference" difference to the top 3 sides. My money is on Doncaster with them almost doubling their points tally in the last quarter of the season and are on a roll (until last Saturday's draw).
Coming down to join League 1 ?
Deffo Rotherham Most probably Huddersfield (need a dramatic swing in GD to catch Plymouth) Brum or Plymouth depending on their last result Sheff Wed not entirely safe mathematically.
Brum home to Norwich (oh matron ! Canaries need just a point for play offs) Wednesday away to Sunderland (anything could happen) Plymouth home to Hull (Hull outside chance of play-offs) Huddersfield away to Ipswich (forget it Terriers)
Some tasty treat there next season.
