It is always easier supporting County when we have to come from behind on a long run in.
Not that we have been "up top and ahead" many times in the past.

So Mansfield do it again...... DRAW that is - Mansfield 1 Rock Bottom Sutton 1, which leaves Mansfield in 3rd, 4 points behind County and 2 behind Wrexham, with all 3 now level on games.
Meanwhile MKD beat Wombles 3-1, leaving 9 man Wombles in 10th, 3 points off the playoff zone but with 1 game in hand on.... MKD.
County face a very winnable game on Sat at Donny and could start to pull away at the top....fingers crossed.

What a difference 22 days make! Mansfield were convinced they had won the League after winning at EP on NYD, and Wrexham would no doubt have fancied their chances back then of overtaking us, too.
Plenty of twists and turns still to come, of course, but not a bad month for County considering we've had a couple of weekends off...

Well, today went very well.
3 points bagged, 5 goals scored and a further 4 on the GD.
Mansfield come a cropper at Wimbledon, Crewe bail out against Slopford, Notts Co and Barrow spoil each others day and Wrexham on other duties.
Lead extended to 5 points (Wrexham game in hand) Mansfield 6 points back, Crewe and Barrow 7 points down and played a game more. Need to keep an eye on the Plastic Dons though.
Also good to see a few players back from loans and injuries. Any news on why Wooton was missing though ?

Hmmm, a fairly full slate of games this Tuesday:
23rd placed FGR v 4th placed Wrexham 11th placed Harrogate v 16th placed Newport 13th placed Notts County v Rock Bottom Sutton 18th placed Salford (on a nice run) v 21st placed Cole U 18th placed Swindon v 17th placed Tranmere 9th placed Walsall v 14th placed Accy Stanley
Interesting to see how some of those turn out as they feature quite a few of the sides County will face in March.

A shame that FGR couldn't hang on for a further 5 minutes tonight. That could have been worse.
Notts County going further south after losing a 7 goal thriller. (now 135 goals in their 34 matches !)

Mullin falls over, Mullin wins penalty/free-kick - Wrexham get out of jail in stoppage time.
You would be forgiven for wondering if the above was written on Parkinson's white board in permanent marker!

Some interesting games coming up on Tuesday:
AFC Wombles (10th) v Grimsby (21st) Barrow (8th) v Gillingham (7th) Mansfield v MKD (5th) Morecambe (9th) v Crawley (11th)
So County will still be 2nd since Wrexham and Crewe are not playing, but keep an eye on MKD who are motoring up the table and they will visit EP on Sat 23rd March, with a 5.15pm kick off on Sky.....

I'll just add in the remaining fixtures for the top 5:
Lots of head to heads, MKD have Mansfield (twice) plus County and Crewe, so we'll find out how good they really are. I still think County's run in is relatively easy, although so is Wrexham's. Anyway, see what you think.
March Tue 5th Mansfield v MKD Sat 9th County v Newport (12th) Donny v Crewe Mansfield v Swindon Morecambe v Wrexham MKD V Salford Tue 12th Crewe v Sutton Grimsby v MKD Tranmere v Mansfield Wrexham v Harrogate Thu 14th Salford (19th) v County Sat 16th Bratfut v Mansfield MKD v Crewe Wrexham v Tranmere Mon 18th Crawley (11th) v County Sat 23rd County v MKD (5th) Crewe v AFC Wombles Grimsby v Wrexham Mansfield v Cole U Fri 29th FGR (23rd) v County Wrexham v Mansfield MKD v Walsall Gillingham v Crewe April Mon 1st AFC Wombles (10th) v County Crewe v FGR Mansfield v Accy Stanley Notts County v MKD Tue 2nd Donny v Wrexham Sat 6th Rock Bottom Sutton v County Accy Stanley v Crewe Cole U v Wrexham FGR v MKD Mansfield v Crawley Tue 9th Mansfield v FGR Morecambe v Crewe Wrexham v Crawley Cole U v County Sat 13th County v Morecambe (9th) Crewe v Grimsby MKD v Mansfield Wrexham v FGR Tue 16th Notts County (14th) v County Sat 20th County v Accy Stanley (16th) Crewe v Wrexham Mansfield v Gillingham Harrogate v MKD Sat 27th Wrexham v County Barrow v Mansfield MKD v Sutton Cole U v Crewe

So there's still a lot to play for and plenty of twists and turns before we get to the last day. There's every possibility that one, or more, of the current top 5 fall back significantly and either limp into the playoffs or miss out altogether. C'mon, Mansfield and Wrexham please, please, pretty please....

Mansfield 1 MKD 2, which tightens things up but County have 2 games in hand on MKD, and 1 on Mansfield. Long way to go....

With County's game being switched to Sky on Thursday we'll have the "luxury" of not having a dog in the fight when the following tasty fixtures take place:
AFC Wombles (8th) v Gillingham (7th) Crewe (5th) v Rock Bottom Sutton Grimsby (21st) v MKD (4th) Newport (13th) v Morecambe (10th) Tranmere (17th)) v Mansfield Walsall (9th) v Barrow (6th) Wrexham (3rd) v Harrogate (14th)
Crewe look to be nailed on winners in their tie, MKD strong favourites v Grimsby, you never know but Harrogate might do to Wrexham what they did to us a few weeks back. Most of all though, I hope Tranmere do to Mansfield what they did to us a few weeks back.
All in all County could be in 4th place by close of play Tuesday, so a good performance at Salford will be very important.
Come on Tranmere: you owe us.

So Grimsby beat MKD 1-0, Tranmere beat Mansfield 2-1, Wrexham can only draw 0-0, the only fly in the ointment being Crewe winning 1-0 over Rock Bottom Sutton. Not a bad set of results for County.
3 points behind Mansfield with2 games in hand, 1 point behind Wrexham with 2 in hand, 2 ahead of Crewe with 2 in hand and 2 ahead of MKD with 3 in hand.
Not a bad position to be in: but we need to really capitalise on it on Thursday night.
