You and I are cut from the same cloth when it comes to Chrissy B appreciation, Gazz! He was such an integral part of the successful times under Danny - and typified the kind of previously unremarkable player that The Man From Uruguay helped to thrive. While there were, understandably, players such as Kev who attracted the publicity, Chris got on with his job - scoring some cracking goals, as well as playing in a variety of positions, during his time with us. Proper team man, too. Will never forget when he could have walked in our fifth goal against West Brom, but squared for 'Big Willow' to do so against his former club instead. I met him briefly the other night at Phil Brennan's book launch. Smashing, down-to-earth bloke who clearly still loves the club. Which reminds me... I will post elsewhere the feature I wrote about the event! I remember that game well, Maccy and that square ball to Big Willow absolutely typified his unselfishness. He's right up there with the best that County have ever had for me, without question. As an aside, wasn't Ardilles the Baggies' manager that season?

I remember that first Wembley final back in '92. After the final whistle, while many people were making their way to their coaches, trains and cars, my brother and I waited behind for the players doing their lap of applause.
As soon as I saw Chris was walking past right up against the old Wembley fences shaking hands with fans that had stayed behind, myself and our kid raced over to scale the fence to shake his hand.
I leaned over the fence, shook his hand and simply said: "keep your head up for next week, Chris" (Peterborough in the playoff final), to which he nodded in appreciation and replied: "Cheers!"
It later transpired that by staying behind as long as we did, we would have missed the County Arrow back home had it not been delayed!

I too am a fully signed up member of the Chrissy Beaumont fan club. He was one of the first players that I thought made football look effortless. Apart from, of course, Frankie Worthington who didn’t put any effort in!

Any added info will be gratefully received.

Not sure why they are called Nomads when:- "Anstey Nomads have played their home games at Cropston Road since their formation. The ground has a capacity of 1,000."The club was established in 1946 by a merger of Anstey Methodists and St Mary's under the name Anstey Meths and Mary's. They joined the Central Division of the Leicestershire Senior League. At the end of the 2017–18 season, they were transferred to Division One of the United Counties League. theucl.co.uk/clubs/anstey-nomads-fc/In the previous round they beat Skegness Town 5-2.

Anstey Nomads vs Ilkeston Town (Home)
2nd Round Qualifying when some of the middle ranked non-league join the fray. (not long ago that included County !!)
Ilkeston Town Football Club is a football club based in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, England. They currently play in the Southern League Premier Division Central. The "Robins" play their home games at "The New Manor Ground".
The club was formed in July 2017 after the previous football club in the town, Ilkeston F.C., folded months earlier. Taking the name of two earlier clubs to represent the town, Ilkeston Town were admitted into the Midland Football League as a late entry for their inaugural season, and were allocated a place in Division One.
Ilkeston Town won the Northern Premier League - Division One Midlands title for the 2021-22 season, gaining the team automatic promotion and on 13 May 2022, the FA’s National League System allocated Ilkeston Town F.C. to the Southern Football League for the 2022/23 season.

We played the former Ilkeston club in the 3rd Round Qualifying eight years ago, and edged through courtesy of a Scott Spencer goal.
Still, not a bad outcome considering the visitors had Che Adams playing for them!

Ilkeston Town 3 Anstey Town 3 (aet)
Anstey win 5-4 on penalties.
So well done to our present "FA Cup favourites" coming through a difficult pair of matches to prevail.
3rd Round Qualifying Draw - The prize is:-
Anstey Town vs Shefford Town and Compton FC (Home) 1st October
Shefford Town & Campton Football Club (The "Bluemen" also known as the "Sheep") is an English football club based in the town of Shefford, Bedfordshire. The team plays its home matches at Shefford Sports Club on Hitchin Road in Shefford and at Campton Playing Fields, Rectory Road in Campton. Somewhere in Bedfordshire.
They won their weekend tie 3-1 away to Grays FC. An excellent result.
They are in the Step 5, 10th Tier, Spartan South Midlands Premier Division (sitting 4th) promoted last year after winning the play-offs. The club was officially wound up in 1994 but re-established in 2009 with 3 promotions to their present division.
Good luck to both sides and a reward of being in with the "big boys" of non-league next round.
