Good to hear that, matey. Mrs Macc and I arranged our vaccinations yesterday. Some light at the end of the tunnel, hopefully... Glad to hear it, matey, fingers crossed we've started to turn the corner now. I'm not sure when I'm going to be getting mine, but as soon as I can, I will be doing so.

I am due to be called for my vaccination in the next week or so. Teachers, soldiers and emergency services staff under 55 are being given the Astra Zeneca as the government here has decided the science doesn’t prove its effectiveness in older patients so we are using up the supplies as they arrive! Andalusia has used more than 90% of its doses given, the rest are held back in case of (more) supply problems.
Stay safe all

I'm now booked in for my first vaccination jab next Wednesday afternoon, with my second jab on Tuesday 15th June.
I really hope this thing does what it says on the tin!

Good luck, Gazz and Duds. Mrs Macc and I had ours (Oxford-AstraZeneca) on Monday - and I was match-fit, without any lasting effects, to report from EP 24 hours later!

Spain has currently put a hold on the AstraZeneca just as my school was due to be vaccinated. The EMA report today will hopefully mean that it restarts soon!

Jab done!
Rode up on my bike, got the needle, rode back - now I'm just hoping the side effects aren't too bad.
Not back in work until Sunday.

The more observant among you may have noticed that I haven't been on here as much recently. In late January, my dog was diagnosed with a brain lesion. I was given the option of having him put down at the time or palliative care involving several different pills and eye-drops to maintain a reasonable quality of life for as long as possible. This gave him an extra few weeks but we finally had to say goodbye a couple of weeks ago.
I'm putting this here because, apart from being one of the last links to my wife (who died nearly 10 years ago), he was also my constant lockdown companion. The first week he was gone I was sort of numb and the second week was Cheltenham races but then the reality hit hard. I've been all over the place for the last few days but my stepdaughter has been a rock and I'm more or less back to normal now. Certainly, last night's performance and win was a boost.

I'm really sorry to read that your faithful companion has passed away, just remember you've got plenty of friends on here, Archie, so whenever you need a friendly 'ear', please don't hesitate to send a PM. I just hope that you didn't feel obliged to continue doing the Prediction League scores, mate, but it's very much appreciated that you did. I haven't had a Dog myself, but my Mum and Dad have and lost their Schnauzer, Jake a few years ago now, so I know how hard it hits. Losing him hit us all, so much so that it made me never want a Dog, ever. My Mum, on the other hand, missed him so much that she went out and got another one with weeks. He may not be the same as Jake, but Riley has his own personality and boy is he adorable! What I'm trying to say is that getting another Dog for a companion may just be the thing you need, mate. My Mum was adamant that she'd never get another one, but she ended up getting two! Keep your head up, mate.

So sorry to hear about this, archie - both because of your having to say goodbye to a faithful friend, and the loss of a precious connection to your wife that he represented.
Pets really come into their own as companions during times of being alone, too. I know you will miss him terribly. Sending hugs.

the loss of a precious connection to your wife that he represented. Indeed, Maccy. @ archie: I know I forgot to mention the connection to your wife, but I promise you I wasn't ignoring it, matey, I just became sidetracked with suggesting how another Dog may help you in the long term. Apologies, mate.

Sorry to hear of your loss Archie. There's a lot of truth in a dog is man's best friend. Hope things get better with time.
