Many thanks for starting us off here, dpc. It is excellent to have the benefit of your local knowledge for what would otherwise, for many of us, have been a trip into the complete unknown! yeah, it's on the 'here be monsters' bit of the map, isn't it?!? we've all probably frequently gone further watching county, but it's those schlepps involving a lot of A-roads that are the biggest pain in the bum...and this is definitely one of those.

So after watching Lowestoft play Stalyvegas yesterday which ended in a not exciting 1-1 draw.
Lowestoft seem to have a few injury problems at the moment with Club captain Dan Gleeson pulling out in the pre match warm up. Also the lost of Danny Crow due to a broken collarbone is a big miss as he has shown to be a class player since Christmas.
All the talk before the game was the departure of Director of Football, Craig Fleming, who has accepted a role as Coach for Southampton's U18 side. - Rumor has it County will be his last game with Lowestoft.
So Lowestoft set up with a 442 .
Jones Sowunmi - Gaughran - Haynes-Brown - Smith
Mason - Jarvis - Fisk - Eagle
Bammant - Reed
For me the player that i wanted to see was Omar Sowunmi who is currently on loan from Ipswich(county should be his last game) he started at right back but switched to CB in the second half when Haynes-Brown went off injured. Omar is a tall young lad(about 18/19) hes a good 6ft 7/8in with good feet, made a few good runs from RB with the ball and looked a threat when moving forward. Wasn't convinced by him so much when switched to CB.
For me and Lowestoft has a massive problem with Pace down the centre of the whole team. The pitch even though it has alot of grass its not the most flattest pitch you will see and the ball will need a little more care with when controlling. So with taking both those things into account it does seem to be a lot of long ball at the moment from lowestoft(which is a shame as ive seen them play some nice passing football early in the season).
So Lowestoft's goal from Smith was a left volley from 20yards after a freekick was cleared out of the 6yard box. - Set pieces was Lowestoft's main if only real goal threat during the whole game.
Stalyvegas goal game when one them wearing a shirt of the color of a streak of piss got the ball and cracked it from about 25yards which hit the underside of the bar and bounced on the line and then into the goal.
It was a game which was very poor and a wind that would cut you into two on a positive note a tray of Chips and Chicken Curry for £3.50 was Fantastic.

I shall also be making the trip for this one, staying with the in-laws in Narrch. I'm bringing Shrops and a friend of mine - you should know his name by now - with me as well.
I'll be in touch nearer the time chaps, to find out where we might be meeting for a pre-match drink and bite to eat.

Oh and as far as travelling goes, I always take the M6 to the A14 and then the A11 (especially now the A11 Thetford bypass is finished), but I'm that bit nearer the M6 than those in Stockport, so you might find another way better.

Just really watch out for the Catthorpe Interchange where the M6 meets the M1 and across to the A14, its a massive roadwork mess at the moment and the queues can be horrid, give yourself some more time. I do my best to avoid it like the plague unless its about 10pm at night!

Excellent dossier, dpc. Really look forward to this trip - and to sampling the cuisine! The Chilli Van offers Chilli with Rice, Chip, Jacket or Nachos all with Cheese and sour cream or you can have Chicken Curry (nice with lots of mushroom and peas) with Chips, Jacket or Rice. Also the Club are not that fussed about people supping their pint around the ground during the game!

That would probably be easier on the eye than my usual verbiage!

Not sure where to post this, but it effects Saturday in a way I suppose...
We saw Hyde beat Solihull last night, good result for us.
Tonight a few others are playing...so far...
Chorley 1 Leamington 2 (HT) good news Hednesford 0 Fylde 0 (HT) Could do with Fylde winning Worcester 1 Guiseley 0 (HT) Worcester down to 10 men. Think this is good news, but Worcester are more than a threat aswell with games in hand.
Scores stay as they are it'll help our slim chance I suppose, with these games on to come...
Wed - Oxford v Ferriby
Sat - County v Solihull Sat - Brackley v Chorley Sat - Hednesford v Boston Sat - Hyde v Guiseley Sat - Oxford v Colwyn Bay Sat - Tamworth v Barrow Sat - Worcester v Gainsboro

That's a good prompt for setting up a Solihull Match Thread, 77!
Shall get to it forthwith...
