Cheers fellas. Back at work today and the back feels ok. Another physio session on Thursday should have it in tip top condition. But it looks like my goalkeeping days are over. Had an ultrasound on my shoulder today and I have a torn ligament. An MRI scan next to see if it needs an operation.

Not good news Downey.
Use your out of nets experience to best purpose then. You can still shout at and blame the defence.

No MRI scan needed but they've given me two options:
a) Go and speak to a surgeon, maybe have an operation, 6 weeks minimum off work.
b) Have non-surgical treatment, physio exercises and lots of rest. Difficult to do whilst working and playing football.
I've chosen option b.
I was a full kit w**ker two weeks ago. Got changed and ran the line without getting on. We had 16 including me so I wasn't too bothered. 1-0 down at half-time, we turned it around in the second half and won 2-1.
The sweeper position was available last Sunday. We were playing the early leaders who had won both games, scored 8 goals and not conceded.
It was a tough game but we restricted them to a handful of chances, most coming in the last two minutes. We held out for a 0-0 draw.
We played in the cup yesterday. Luckily against a 45s team. It was difficult to get a squad together on a public holiday but we managed to get 12 players, not all fully fit though.
We struggled in the first 15 minutes but then scored against the run of play. We were then the dominant team and were 2-0 up at half-time.
It was a hot day and a tough second half. I lasted until the 80th minute then had to come off as there was nothing left in the tank.
We scored again in the last 5 minutes for a decent 3-0 win.
Just got to wait and see who we get in the next round...

Great results, just make sure you do the plenty of rest or it won’t get better!

Wow! Haven't updated this for ages.
Last season had ups and downs. More downs though.
After struggling to finish the cup game that we won 3-0 and the game after, I missed a couple of games with a persistent dry cough. I went to my doctor and was diagnosed with whooping cough. That was a wonderful 12 weeks I can tell you.
Managed to play most games at sweeper quite well as I was recovering. Also played in goal in the cup against a 35s team narrowly losing 2-0. Picked up the man of the match award though.
Onto the 2019 season.
I was unable to play in any friendlies and very rarely trained due to work commitments.
I was available last Sunday but the goalkeeper wasn't so I once again donned the gloves (the shoulder isn't great but I get by).
It was a close 1-0 defeat, no chance with the goal, happy with my performance although my kicking was suspect.
Aching like mad on Monday, worse on Tuesday and booked in for a medical for work, ready to fly out today. The medical couldn't be done due to high blood pressure.
24 hours of wearing a monitor later and I'm waiting for the results...
Should be available to play this weekend and fly out again on Monday instead.

I know you love your football and you've done brilliantly to keep playing as long as you have, but I really don't think you should ignore it this time. Give it some thought, mate.
