looks great. the first is still sitting downstairs unplayed though in my endless, boring, repeat to fade...
i did play the original 'red dead revolver', but that's not really the same sort of game at all. 'redemption' and the follow up are on my list of things i will play when i win the lottery and retire early, or when i retire in the real world, in which case i may be playing using an emulator...

Haha - finding time really is the problem isn't it? I think I played the original Red Dead Revolver on my uncles PS2 many moons ago. From what I remember it was more of an arcade shooter type game. Things haven't half moved on since then!

FIFA 19 mini-review:
More of the same from EA.
More last minute goals conceded More stray passes More stray shots from your best players More deliberate handicapping of your defenders when trying to hold onto a slender lead More red cards More deliberate handicapping of your player speed on soggy pitches, when the opposition skate over it like they're on a bone dry pitch...
In short - if you like spending your hard earned money on being constantly frustrated by the blatant scripting in this game that, at times, makes you feel like you're just a spectator watching the match highlights - then this game is for you!
Alternatively, you could heed my warnings and not touch this absolute cowpat of a game with a f***ing bargepole.
EA: Living proof that you can polish a turd.

Now that I have your attention! This could be a game changer - no pun intended. Microsoft’s New, Digital-Only Xbox One S Could Arrive By MayThe company hasn’t forgotten its customers who still rely on discs, however. Reportedly there will be a disc-to-digital program at Microsoft stores, allowing gamers to transfer physical copies to digital licenses. Details of how this would work haven’t been rolled out and the program isn’t officially announced. There’s also supposedly a cost-reduced version of the Xbox One S coming later this year as well that would keep the ability to play physical discs but still target a price below $299. How will the market respond? That’s an open question. Microsoft originally attempted to debut a version of the Xbox One that treated discs as little more than a physical method of validating a game license. The solution ultimately foundered because gamers were unwilling to accept the complete loss of the resale market and the daily check-in requirement that Microsoft was going to levy, even though some aspects of the plan, like the ability to share your Xbox library, were well-received. The company torpedoed its plan for library sharing after users rejected its digital distribution system and the entire debacle helped shape the Xbox One’s poor launch in 2013. Microsoft has been pushing its online offerings more strongly, however, with services like the Xbox Live Game Pass. The company’s Project Scarlett consoles, expected in 2020, are rumored to include both a disc-based and disc-less version. GameStop, meanwhile, has been unable to find a buyer for itself. The chart from the NPD Group, shown above, illustrates just how dramatically sales have shifted from retail to online outlets. According to NPD data, even in 2013, 46 percent of console games were still sold in physical stores. Today, that ratio has fallen to 21 percent. I’ve long been a proponent of keeping physical distribution — there are too many people with metered connections or slow download speeds for me to feel comfortable with an all-digital distribution system — but it’s clear that patterns are changing. Microsoft’s latest Xbox One will attempt to change with them. Article

Sony in “advanced board level discussions” to buyout Rockstar parent company Take-Two – rumorShares in Take-Two today have climbed due to a Sony buyout rumor.
Rumors of a possible Take-Two take over by Sony have caused shares in the company to jump 5.4%.
According to a MarketWatch report (via Daniel Ahmad), Sony is currently in “advanced board level discussions” regarding the acquisition of Take-Two Interactive. It’s said to be looking at a “cash deal,” value the company at $130 share, per Joel Kulina of Wedbush Securities.
Going by the numbers, it would be a bit difficult for Sony to afford the buyout, unless it has found a buyer for its Sony Pictures division. We’re not privy to its finances, but it would be a very expensive deal even if it sells its film studio as rumors state.
This isn’t the first time news of a Take-Two acquisition has popped up over the years. The most famous of the lot, or infamous if you will, was when EA made a bid to take over the company in 2008.
The company CEO at the time, John Riccitiello, doggedly pushed for a buyout with a cash bid of $26 per share, or around $2 billion. The offer was rejected by Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick.www.vg247.com/2019/03/13/sony-take-two-buyout-rumor/That would see a huge shift towards Sony in the battle for next-gen supremacy and be a huge gut punch for Microsoft. Personally, I don't want to see this happen, as I think that games should be available on all the major platforms - just think how good Uncharted would look on a decent PC, for example.

i might have one of them this time. as i've skipped a generation - never even played a current gen game - i'm expecting it to blow my head off in 4k, as opposed to my early gaming of a zx81 on a black and white portable...

Following another frustrating session on FRAUDFA 19, I decided to hunt for clips of a similar nature and found this: This is exactly the kind of thing I've had to endure this afternoon. Anyone that thinks this game isn't rigged really does need to give their head a wobble. The scripting in this pile of sh*t is so bad and so obvious that I am now able to see a defeat coming a mile off. - Passes suddenly start going astray,
- First touch becomes Carlton Palmer-esque
- Your players stop making runs into spaces to give you options to pass to, which is so obvious it's f***ing criminal
- Your Striker, who is on a hot goalscoring streak, suddenly starts blazing open goals over the bar from inside the 6-yard box, even though the directional arrow is pointing right into the goal and flat along the ground
- Defenders stand still when opposition players are running at them
- In crucial top of the table clashes, your players lose the ability to shoot on target altogether and run around the pitch like it's covered in treacle
- Worst of all, penalty kicks go against you for no reason at all, yet AI players can tackle you from behind until the f***ing cows come home, missing the ball and hacking you down in the process - with no penalty being given.
- Player switching becomes impossible when you're under attack, leaving you unable to choose the defender nearest the ball and make tackles and leaving your goalkeeper exposed as a result
I will never buy another f***ing FIFA game again. EA - Take your "surprise mechanics" and shove them up your arse, you bunch of f***ing frauds.
