Director of Football Simon Wilson said:
“Ever since he arrived here, Will has shown his desire to be part of what we are doing at County – firstly through the compromises he made at the outset in order to come in on the short term contract, before backing that up with his application since he has been here.
“I’m therefore delighted to agree with Will a further 2 years, and to retain not only another good player in our group, who still has much potential, but also a very good person.”
Manager Simon Rusk said:
"I’m delighted to have Will on board for another two years. He has fitted into the squad really well, and has contributed with some excellent performances already. He has room for improvement improvement ahead of him, and I wish him well with the next part of his career with us here."
That's the part of the director of football role that doesn't sit right with me at all. The manager should target players, sign them and coach them according to his own vision for the team, with his backroom staff there to assist him and trust in his judgement - no wonder Jim didn't last long.
No matter how successful we are, I will never warm to Wilson or the role he has at the club.

Rusk’s comments read like an end of school report!

Rusk’s comments read like an end of school report! It's the "improvement improvement" bit that gets me. Does that mean he's got to work twice as hard as everyone else?!* *The author of this post would like to point out that he is aware that this may have been a typo.

While the right side of the pitch has always looked solid at WB, the absence of Kitching left Williams and now Walker trying to do a job there, putting extra emphasis on the importance of JJ leading on that side. To get such a season of consistent performances and to impact the side as he has done means the the extension is so fully deserved. Now add in how he's done this before and beyond the news of CJ, and then it seems quite astonishing to me. Good job, JJ.

Don't know if I've missed any announcements but what's the status on Kitching and Stott these days? Are they injured (if so when are they due back). Still at County, On a camping holiday together or what?

Still at County, On a camping holiday together or what? Kitching won't feature again this season. He has a back issue which has needed consultations on etc. and it was only in the recent programme that it said they were aiming for returning to pre-season now that they have a plan of action. AFAIK Stott has been fit but has been in a 'B team' situation at the Club, so likely playing when we've had B team games against sides, with the likes of Gilmour in the same 'B team' bracket.

As a relatively unsung player, he probably won't get it - although I'd go as far as to say that JJ is a great shout for Player of the Year. Great news about his contract extension.

A list of those already signed for next season (or beyond): It'll be interesting to see if that list stays that long if we fail to go up, H - computer says "no"!
