This is awful, it really is. I knew we'd struggle in this series, but Christ, have we forgotten how to bat?

That's the difference between good teams (England) and the best teams (Australia) or rather, bazball collides with reality with predictable results although there is still time to be proved wrong on the latter point.

We need an epic morning session from Root and Bairstow tomorrow, otherwise this will be 3-0 come Saturday evening and it'll all be over.

Fielding cost the first 2 Tests. Dropped catches and all those Extras. It's poor discipline and seems that batting at a high run rate has become the sole focus. Dropped catches could cost us this Test as well. I've nothing much against our batting - we're putting up good scores. But you can score as many as you like, if you put catches down, you're not likely to win.

I've nothing much against our batting - we're putting up good scores. I don't think we've always batted strongly through the order, though, and there's the problem for me. Look at the second test, where from a strong position we swung the kitchen sink at every short ball they threw at us and practically handed the Ashes to them. That's what I mean by forgotten how to bat, our game management seems to have gone out of the window in favour of this cavalier limited overs approach, and I for one don't like it - it's certainly not the Test cricket I grew to love. Factor in our inability to catch and it shows that we're nowhere near where we should be, the hype of 'Bazball' has been smashed to the boundary for four.

Yes, those three wickets in the second Test were brainless. Our batting brain has not been good. The biggest problem is we do not adapt - we have one way of playing that is high risk. We lost by 43 runs and gave Warner an extra 50 runs after a drop and gave away 74 extras compared to Aus 39. Show more discipline in the field and those 3 poor hook shots don't matter so much. In this test, they should have been all out for less than 200.

Thanks for giving that wicket away so early, Joe. I'm in work tonight and you've saved me from wasting a day watching the Aussies pulverise us. Now, a bit of Dirt 5 on the PS5, I think! #Bazball

They were talking about Warnie on Sky yesterday, and it made me wonder how many wickets he'd have if he was in this Aussie team right now - he'd have taken us apart on his own.

Yeah, this is just rubbish batting. Aus should still have been all out for 180 but we should be heading for a 200+ lead, not this garbage.

Again, instead of giving Stokes a solid partner to get us to parity, Broad thinks he's playing baseball. This is the problem for me, we just can't seem to grind it out for a spell and try to wear the bowlers down.
Remember Jimmy and Monty's fantastic last wicket stand at Cardiff? Okay, they rode their luck, but they stuck around and got us over the line - why can't we just play within ourselves a bit more and not make it bloody easy for them?

26 short, this will be all over and the series lost before close of play tomorrow.
What really grates me is when Smith takes centre stage with a decent knock or a catch, he gets gushing plaudits from the comms team - the guy's a proven cheat and shouldn't be anywhere near Test cricket in my opinion.
I really can't bear the Aussies and we've just handed our arses to them on a sterling silver platter.
Embarrassing.

Rain delays play, but it brought about the highlight of the series for me - Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara giving a batting masterclass on how to deal with the short ball.
They should play that back to our lads, as it really was a privilege to listen to and watch one of the greats of the game.
