Having watched that goal again, it seems Pickford got that dive on Klarna, he's the new Joe Hart - he'll never be as good as he thinks he is.

Utter shameful.

It strikes me that the team is built after the character of its manager. To describe Southgate as dour would be to do dour people a great disservice. He gives the impression that he daren't smile for fear it might break his jaw!

Málaga won promotion last night with a 129th minute goal to equalise having been 2 goals down in the away leg of the playoffs. This is what greeted them when they arrived back at Malaga airport at 5:30am x.com/fbawaydays/status/1804794245976391956?s=46

There's so much to pick at during that 120+ minutes, but instead I'm going to concentrate on the cast-iron balls shown by all five of our penalty takers, not least from one Bukayo Ayoyinka Temidayo Saka - what a penalty and what a way to put 'that' penalty firmly behind him.
Fantastic stuff!

Close call - but a better team performance and, as you say, Gazz, five cracking spot-kicks. Well done, England!

How can anyone have the balls to take any penalty kick without looking at the ball !!!
Well done Toney. Full marks to TAA for dispatching his with his "almost" first touch of the ball for 4 games. I believe the Dutch are getatable and the French have been as flaky as England. Spain look the best set up left but they are not the force they once were.
England could win this whilst being miles off their best. Still a team of individuals for me.

It sounds mad to say as they lost, but Turkey looked a bigger threat to me. I still don't feel confident about Wednesday, although I haven't felt confident since the second group game, but it's definitely doable as you say. He'll still stick with Kane which I think would be a mistake, but I don't think he should go with Toney either, as I think he'll be more effective as an impact sub later on. Watkins would be my choice and I think he'd be right up for the challenge.

England in the final and not one single post?
Disappointing!

I was going to post during the game that it should never have been a penalty!
It was refreshing to see Foden being able to play like he does for his club rather than being left out on the wing.
Last minute winner or not Watkins is still Villa scum.
Best England performance of the competition but they will need more against Spain.

Can't speak for anyone else but I turn my Chromebook off about 7pm most days and don't get round to logging back in here until about 9am.
As for the match, a good performance with interesting substitutions which worked out in the end. Forwards are always pulled up when late in blocking a defender's clearance so with role reversal it was a penalty. Like it or not, that's the way the law is interpreted these days. Not intentional but still a foul.

Not intentional but still a foul. Agreed, Archie, it was a clumsy one, but it was a penalty, without question. What a performance that was, I was watching on my tablet in work (supervisor was class in letting me do so), and I couldn't contain myself when Saka 'scored', but when Watkins hit the back of the net with that absolute blinder, I went nuts! He's a Scotsman and gave me all kinds over that penalty etc, but he's a top bloke and really did me a solid in letting me watch it on shift. I'm off for the final, though, and I can't wait! Come on, England, PLEASE get it done this time! Spain are a great side, and I was really pleased for them and their country as a whole in 2008, but it's our turn now. I want this one so much!

Deffo penalty. Foot high, out of control and contact made after the ball had gone.
That would have been a free kick anywhere else on the pitch for a clumsy attempt to play the ball and miss. If that had been the keeper rushing off his line and then making contact after the ball had gone it would have been given immediately.
Mind you, some of the wrestling at both ends at corners was just as bad. Some finish from Watkins to win the game. Fully deserved win. The Dutch play a different game and gave England space. The teams playing for 3rd place qualification in the group stages spoilt the early tournament for me.
Spain ? Perhaps their attacking style may suit England's counter attacking policy. Who can tell.
