Thanks for posting, Yorks. I had never heard of him before, but, by the end of the piece, felt much compassion over his story.
I have to say I get quite fascinated reading the tales of players whose stars briefly shone, then quickly waned. The Greatest Footballer You Never Saw, about Reading's maverick Robin Friday, is one of my all-time favourite biographies from any walk of life.

The Greatest Footballer You Never Saw, about Reading's maverick Robin Friday, is one of my all-time favourite biographies from any walk of life. The Guardian ran a piece about him and his mercurial talent some while ago. I remember reading about a character whose outlook on life rather got in the way of a prodigious talent, not the first and almost certainly not the last of whom that could be said.

Congratulations to Jürgen Klopp and his Liverpool side, following the confirmation of their winning the Premier League.
Fully deserving winners and the best Premier League team to watch by a country mile.
A long overdue title for a great club.

Seconded, Gazz!
They've been absolutely outstanding all season and fully deserve this success, it's a real shame it had to come in such terrible circumstances and without the fans being able to share it with them but the title is theirs and they deserve it!
Massive congrats to anyone affiliated with the Red Half of Liverpool, our very own ARS included!
The one sour note is the small (and I do mean small) minority of the fanbase that has turned unbelievably arrogant over the last couple of years but it won't detract from the majority who can take great pride in a team of Champions up there with United's treble winners and Arsenal's invincibles!

10/10 for the Liverpool players and coaching staff. Clearly the best team in the Premier League with a good brand of football. I can't put them in the same category as the United Treble team or the Arsenal Invincibles until they win multiple trophies for a number of seasons and, on the same basis, I'd have them slightly behind City's side a couple of years ago. However, they are very similar to the latter in turning several draws into wins late in the day and all credit to them. Mischievously, you could put them on a par with Leicester and Blackburn at this stage.
8/10 for the majority of fans who do the right thing home and away.
2/10 for a small proportion of Liverpool fans. As Fudgie mentions, the sense of entitlement has long passed it's sell by date. Also,
1. it seems that there was only one football disaster with the initial, 'H'.
2. trashing opposition coaches is, apparently, fine.
3.
1/10 for Merseyside police who never identified anyone who trashed coaches and who allowed all the crap on Friday night despite it being well publicised. Thursday was spontaneous and understandable. Friday was not.

The only time you see Merseyside police around here is when their fat arses are wedged into the seat of a car, by which time they've already blown their sirens for about five minutes from miles away, no doubt in the hope that the people they're after have all scattered by the time they arrive.
I reckon most of them have probably still got the same notepads they were issued with when they first joined the force, still in their f***ing cellophane wrappers!

Due to Northampton's play-off success today, even though he didn't play, Matty Warburton has now been promoted in his last 2 seasons in football! Massive congrats to Matty!

You do have to wonder if he has a future there, though, Fudgie. If he didn't even get off the bench for this League Two game, maybe he's going to struggle to get much League One football there next season?
I think he may very well be moving on soon.

Oh, I don't believe for a second he'll be there next season but however small he did play his part in their promotion this year and he's personally got back to back promotions which is an unlikely feat for any player!
As good as he is and as fondly as I think he'll be remembered at County, I still wouldn't have him back, not that I don't think he's good enough just that we need to be moving forward not staying stuck in the past!
Either way, good on the lad!

Thinking of contacting Merseyside Police to see if they know what time this week's Pier Head Party starts.

Thinking of contacting Merseyside Police to see if they know what time this week's Pier Head Party starts. Send Jamie Carragher a tweet, mate, he might be able to throw some light on that one for you - he might even be able to get you within spitting distance of the River!

Wigan beating Hull 7-0 at half time. Looks as though our record league win is under threat
