I had just calmed down from last night when I saw this morning on the County twitter page "a strong second half performance (from county)"... I'm sorry but that is absolute b*ll*cks.
I was doing the twitter last night and got plenty of abuse about this tweet, perhaps I worded it wrong but it was meant to reflect the stronger performance in the second half as to the first.
The first half was poor, but in truth County were much the better side the second half with numerous chances, all of which were off-target.
With better target practice they could quite easily have found themselves level or even in front. We counted 12 attempts off target to just 2 on.

Unfortunately, the trolls come with the territory, nlr. I have had the odd bit of worse abuse, even after a County victory... but will have the last laugh when I write my book:-)
Cheers for standing in last night, mate. You did a typically excellent job.

Cheers Gareth, I was expecting it once the first goal went in, then it got rather busy after the second.
See you Tuesday for the Barrow game. P.s I'm very much looking forward to the book.

Thank goodness for Milton Jones! This was a game me and my bro would normally get to. He was seeing Milton Jones in Harrogate with his girlfriend and I didng fancy it it on my own. Good choice, well made by the sounds of it. Not the first time we've reverted to long balls away from home at got nothing. I thought those days were over. It's something Alan needs to sort out as we just don't have the players for long ball tactics. Really disappointing result and performance. As they say, it's the hope that kills you. Thanks for the live updates, nlr - top work and much appreciated.

Highlights from last night. Maybe one of the shortest highlight videos to date. On second viewing they shouldn't have had that penalty and the second goal was a total fluke. Dennis had a few half chances but nothing clear cut except maybe that glancing header wide.

Anyway I should have known this match was one I should have missed.... the afternoon started off well with a trip up to Leeds to cart a treadmill running machine to the 3rd floor of my daughters apartment. Assembled and tested all was well apart from a high pitched peep noise now and again, but with time moving on we headed to a pub for curry and fish and chips. Resisted the ale and headed off to Bradford or that was the plan... after trying to negotiate a diversion and the sat nav re-directing me or forever calculating I joined the massive queue of cars heading out of town. On average 3 cars went through each traffic light change.. anyway to cut a long story short I arrived on Cemetry Road at 20:15 and managed to squeeze in between 2 parked cars with inches to spare (and honest guv I didnt touch either bumper)...missing most of the first half. Eppie why are the diversion signs so bad or is it me ;?
Yes yesterday was a night to forget.. I felt really deflated leaving the ground - real disappointment after a lacklustre display, outfought and beaten by a team who had a couple of fluke goals but genuinely seemed to want it more than us. I know the conditions were bad and they play each week there, but these are excuses. I am no football manager / player but hoofing the ball up in the rough direction of our forwards to see their defence head them back continuously says its not working - added playing against the wind; would have thought some consideration might have been made to play more along the ground... even from their goal kicks BPA were winning the headers. Okay some chances were made but our accuracy was awful. BPA certainly won the time wasting and drama queen injury award - the ref did nothing to stop it and should have moved one of their players off the pitch.
This playing midweek mostly on a Tuesday night worries me. We simply dont perform - is it because they've done a days work and then have to travel and play? I really dont know. How is it Lowestoft that travel serious miles to each match can win some, and arent relegation fodder? Maybe time to bring in a sports shrink?
I wouldnt relish being in Lordys position but he needs to read the riot act again. Where's the pride in wearing a County shirt? I'm not going to single out any players but some didnt put a proper shift in. Those that cant or wont need to consider their futures..a bit strong but if we fans can make the effort to travel and support then the least the players can do is to all put in a shift.
Having said that I will probably make the Worcester game.
NLR havent seen the twitter comments, just ignore them. We all need to get it off our chests.
We just need a win...Countys an addiction

I was absolutely disgusted with what I saw last night. I was looking forward to the game, knowing that it was a must-win if we had any playoff aspirations. My girlfriend had been on at me to take her to a County game for the last 2 years (I think she soon realized my reluctance to haha!), so with a free Wednesday at about 5:15pm we set off up the M6 from uni to the match in good spirits. We made it to the ground about 3mins after kick off thanks to the M6 roadworks/traffic and following that queued for about 15mins for a burger as we hadn't eaten all day. From what I could see by the burger stand, we were on top for the first 20mins but that's where the positivity ended. We were bereft of any ideas and commitment. We were second to every ball, and our whole gameplan seemed to revolve around playing a long ball to their 2 centre halves who just kept heading it away all evening. We won nothing in the air or on the ground and made it ridiculously easy for possibly the worst team I have ever seen County play against. BPA offered absolutely nothing all game apart from a (questionable) penalty and a complete fluke goal from 35 yards that got caught in the wind and looped over Hurst. The few times we got the ball down and played it into the wide areas we looked much better, but as these occasions were too few and far between we created nothing. We looked most threatening from set pieces, but even so we never really tested their 'keeper. I can't really think what else to say. It was so abject there wasn't really a game of note to report on. I had just calmed down from last night when I saw this morning on the County twitter page "a strong second half performance (from county)"... I'm sorry but that is absolute b*ll*cks. It was a p*** poor performance - probably the worst I've seen from County EVER, against possibly the worst team I've ever seen County play, in the worst stadium I've ever watched County at in a competitve fixture, on one of the worst pitches I've ever seen. It might sound like I'm overreacting but it really was that bad. At full time I felt like we were owed a f****** apology... But the management and the players just meekly ambled off across the pitch with no acknowledgement for the fans. It was spineless. So thanks County. That was >£20 in petrol, plus food and entry, and a stop off on the way home so roughly I make it £40 of my student loan blown on that s****. Will be a long time before I go to another away game, I should've just saved my time and money. To top it all off, we got back after midnight due to various entrances and exits of the M6 being closed. Before last night I was behind Lordy, but now I'm really not so sure. Last night really brought it home to me that he wont be able to get us out of this division this season or next. Tactics were horrendous and the midfield was so weak, again we had no width. I'm reluctant to change manager again but I really do think his time should be up in the summer. Absolutely fuming. That'll be my last away game of the season. I would agree with most of that. Onwards and hopefully upwards...but with Lordy.

Eppie why are the diversion signs so bad or is it me ;? where were you going from in leeds? did you go out of leeds at pudsey and have to cross bradford? i always find that a right pain in the a_r_s. i live in north leeds so that would be the shortest route for me easily, but both times i've been to BPA, i've got on the M621 in south-west leeds then the M62 and M606. it's only just over a mile to the ground after getting off the M606 and probably took half an hour all told, even though it's a bit circuitous.

I was doing the twitter last night and got plenty of abuse about this tweet, perhaps I worded it wrong but it was meant to reflect the stronger performance in the second half as to the first. the quoted reaction was probably annoyance about the game, particularly as we had been getting our collective hopes up. also, county media in the past often seemed to put an unrealistically positive slant on everything which annoyed people who'd seen a performance that was anything but positive. pure used to be the prime culprits as we were sliding down the football league, but i think they've improved a lot on that front. i think you're right with 'stronger' rather than 'strong', but it still mainly consisted of hopeless long balls and performances like that tend to leave you a bit angry. that said, i don't have a twitter account, so that was 140 fewer characters of swearing at least!
