Is there a pub near the ground Good to see you back, jd! If you go up Cemetry Road from the ground, turn right and walk along the main road (towards Bradford Bulls' stadium), there is a half-decent boozer on the right approximately five minutes away. Assuming, of course, that it remains open, twelve months on...!

This is starting to feel like a really big game for us now, especially after last night's result. Three points tonight will put us in the play-offs and keep our recent run of good results going, a defeat would be a severe blow IMHO. We're going to find out a lot about the team spirit and commitment in the squad over the next couple of weeks and tonight is the first test -- good luck to Lordy and the boys!

There certainly seems to be building optimism about tonight, and almost that a heck of a lot of the remainder of the season is hanging on tonight's game. Its not a must win game for me, but certainly it is a must not lose game. I think the pitch will tell on the players as its likely to be very heavy but it looks as though quite few first teamers played for them on Moday night, whereas we rested quite a few, hopefully that will help out. Look forward to a big travelling contingent tonight (as I guess so are Bradford's money men) and hopefully we can ropar the boys on to a hugely valuable 3 points and into the play offs!! (Note to self - do not get too excited yet!)

Tonights game should be a bit like Hyde last weekend, if we play to our potential and treat them with respect we should be able to come away with a win!

2-0 BPA in stoppage time. This is what we get when some fans among us run down the clubs in this division by saying we should be beating them, and they get wind of it.

Where do I start ! Their goals...1st a penalty that looked dodgy but need to see again. 2nd a proper proper freak goal where the ball bounced out of a tackle 35 yards over Hurst and in the net ! Nobody deserved to win in reality, but that's County ! We were awful, really awful. I can't even tell you what went wrong ! We lost out on 50/50's, they closed down quicker than we did, they looked more "up for it" than we did. A really bad night at the office. I could not even pick a man of the match for us !! It is such a shame that away form is so bad, its really costing us...but its the same team that wins at EP so regularly. We should be wining more than 3 games away in 12 months ! If we did we'd be cruising a play off place. So what is so different away from EP...I have no idea at all and it's so bloody frustrating. Golden opportunity missed tonight and I'm sure we're all gutted. Can we win Saturday...after tonight you'd hope for a reaction...but I'm would not put money on it

'dire' and 'dismal' are my words of the evening.
started unpromisingly when parking my car down the side of their one stand (and where you have to park half on the tarmac and half on the grass) i managed to get both my front wheels down the kerb onto the grass while doing a three point turn...and then found i couldn't move - couldn't go forwards, couldn't go backwards...my wheels were just spinning. couldn't get it rocking out of its hole by myself, so left the car all skewed as other cars could still get past, and went in.
walking along the front of their stand on the very narrow walkway between the front row of seats and the fence, i suddenly found myself falling. there were two broken seat backs on the ground, i'd trodden on one and it skidded out from under me. gave my knee a right whack and i could feel that it was bleeding.
wasn't as cold as last year by any means, but there was a strong wind throughout and it was blowing right in our ears. that was a bit sh*t, i had getting my car out of its pickle after the game on my mind throughout play, and my knee was singing insistently.
poor game from the off. county played with the wind first half and had one or two chances, and woolfe put in a few decent corners; but we didn't make it count. dennis appeared to have hit the side netting from 40 yards from a free kick, but there was little of note really. they seemed to be hoof merchants supplemented by a couple of players who could run with the ball. like since77, i'd also have to see the penalty incident again, but their player stroked it away comfortably. it was in the one minute of first half injury time too. how county. at half time i stood up and the left leg of my trousers was at half mast because it had stuck to my gooey knee.
second half and although we'd made a couple of changes (ryan for the ineffective sharp, wilkinson for the reasonable woolfe) we didn't pick up massively. probably the heavy surface and strong wind didn't help, but we matched their hoofball with our own variation. the variation was that their centre halves just headed everything away with ease all night. dennis went close-ish from a glover free kick, and dennis (and somebody else) had shots from the far side of the area that looked as though they may have gone fairly close. it's hard to tell with the running track - it's like you're watching a game taking place in the next county.
every time the ball went out of play it took ages to retrieve because of the distance the ball could go between the touchline, across the running track and to the stands. of course as they were winning, BPA weren't bothered, and quite often our players were running after the ball to give it back to them for their throw. the fluke of their second just put a little f***-you bonnet on the whole night's proceedings. a complete spawn, effectively a block that flew the best part of fifty yards (you're being conservative, since77) and in. no blame attached to hurst - it was just one of those things and he didn't have a chance with it.
it had already looked like we weren't going to be taking anything from the game, but that pretty much sealed it. really poor performance, really poor game management/on pitch tactics from the players. in the second half, we started with dennis, ryan, glover, wilkinson and baker, but got very little out of any of them because we continually went long against a rearguard that might as well have been smoking cigarillos and reclining on chaise lounges for all the difficulty they were having in dealing with it. i would say that dennis was our best player - he buzzed about, had a few half-decent shots and actually looked like he could control the ball. struggling after that. jacobs was fairly poor again (had a real second-touch-a-tackle moment which could have ended badly since he'd already been booked), but it was bad from the lot of them really.
it has knocked the wind out of me a bit. i was looking forward to tonight and saturday, and now i'm going on saturday because i'm going, but i haven't actually got a good reason any more. i could feel an interesting end to the season due to pushing for the play-offs ebbing away as the night went on. it hasn't killed us, but it was a blow.
thanks to the fellas who helped push my car back up onto the tarmac - thought i was going to be struggling but it was relatively easy once we got it rocking. i was quite embarrassed and in a fluster failed to start it on the first couple of tries. have two quite bad cuts on my knee now i've inspected it. one of those deflating nights where, all told, all you can hope for is that you've got all the bad luck/balls ups out of the way and that everything will magically be better next time. i'm hoping not to fall over at least on saturday. whether the boys in blue can give us something to cheer about will be quite another matter on this performance.

An evil drive north saw me get into my seat just as we kicked off! I think the previous two posts cover what was a very dismal match, the players did not seem to want to be there, they certainly did not put the expected shift in. All credit to BPA they were up for it, quicker to every loose ball, put good tackles in, ran their socks off. The penalty I feel was harsh, earlier on Hurst tangled with one of their players and sent him crashing to the floor (that to me was the pen to give) Their second was a freak, but in an odd way fun to see At least the drive home was easy and a nice cold glass of wine is being drunk whilst I type this and then I'm going to bed Goodnight

2-0 BPA in stoppage time. This is what we get when some fans among us run down the clubs in this division by saying we should be beating them, and they get wind of it. well the wind got hold of the ball for that second goal ! it was a poor game and friggin freezing , I also had a pic of the penalty taker Richard "Scooby" Marshall pinned to my PC this morning courtesy of some Halifax town fans ! However it was a nice friendly clubhouse with decent beer and I bumped into bellis in the gents ooh err missus ,
highlight of the night was two young county fans in the club house , one wearing a tie getting collared trying to get in free claiming to be directors at county , nice try lads !
