I think it's our away form which is going to cost us a play off spot.

I think it's our away form which is going to cost us a play off spot. Agreed, but it was always going to be a tough ask this season in my opinion, so all this crap being spouted elsewhere regarding replacing Alan is just ridiculous. We've made progress this season, so if any season should be the one Alan's job may hinge on, it's next season, not this one.

absolutely right gazz. last night really was demoralising, but for me the the bigger picture is that i'm happier with this squad than i have been with any for some time.

mhh - sorry you had such a wretched match at the end of a long drive. you really don't need that twenty mile stretch of roadworks below chesterfield late at night after that either...

I was absolutely disgusted with what I saw last night.
I was looking forward to the game, knowing that it was a must-win if we had any playoff aspirations. My girlfriend had been on at me to take her to a County game for the last 2 years (I think she soon realized my reluctance to haha!), so with a free Wednesday at about 5:15pm we set off up the M6 from uni to the match in good spirits.
We made it to the ground about 3mins after kick off thanks to the M6 roadworks/traffic and following that queued for about 15mins for a burger as we hadn't eaten all day. From what I could see by the burger stand, we were on top for the first 20mins but that's where the positivity ended.
We were bereft of any ideas and commitment. We were second to every ball, and our whole gameplan seemed to revolve around playing a long ball to their 2 centre halves who just kept heading it away all evening. We won nothing in the air or on the ground and made it ridiculously easy for possibly the worst team I have ever seen County play against.
BPA offered absolutely nothing all game apart from a (questionable) penalty and a complete fluke goal from 35 yards that got caught in the wind and looped over Hurst. The few times we got the ball down and played it into the wide areas we looked much better, but as these occasions were too few and far between we created nothing. We looked most threatening from set pieces, but even so we never really tested their 'keeper.
I can't really think what else to say. It was so abject there wasn't really a game of note to report on.
I had just calmed down from last night when I saw this morning on the County twitter page "a strong second half performance (from county)"... I'm sorry but that is absolute b*ll*cks.
It was a p*** poor performance - probably the worst I've seen from County EVER, against possibly the worst team I've ever seen County play, in the worst stadium I've ever watched County at in a competitve fixture, on one of the worst pitches I've ever seen.
It might sound like I'm overreacting but it really was that bad. At full time I felt like we were owed a f****** apology... But the management and the players just meekly ambled off across the pitch with no acknowledgement for the fans. It was spineless.
So thanks County. That was >£20 in petrol, plus food and entry, and a stop off on the way home so roughly I make it £40 of my student loan blown on that s****. Will be a long time before I go to another away game, I should've just saved my time and money.
To top it all off, we got back after midnight due to various entrances and exits of the M6 being closed.
Before last night I was behind Lordy, but now I'm really not so sure. Last night really brought it home to me that he wont be able to get us out of this division this season or next. Tactics were horrendous and the midfield was so weak, again we had no width. I'm reluctant to change manager again but I really do think his time should be up in the summer. Absolutely fuming. That'll be my last away game of the season.

I still think that Lord is the right person in charge, this season has been better than last season and hopefully next season will be better than this one, as long as we can keep progressing then eventually we will get back to where we want to be.

Totally agree mate and that's what makes it worse. I was at Leamington for one of our 3 away wins this season, we were decent that day away from home, and we have performed well at home for the majority of this season. The worst part is knowing the players are better than what they showed.
I appreciate playing part time football away games are always going to be difficult - especially midweek ones - I was at Chorley when we lost 3-0 before Christmas, and understand that some players might have done half a days work before sitting on a coach for a few hours and then being expected to play. My main issue with last night was the way we were set up (and the long ball 'tactic') and the fact we pussied out of every 50/50. There was no commitment or effort from the players - we have seen they are better than that. For the first time in 5 years we have a squad that holds its own in the division we're in, and actually seem to care about playing for the club.
So why couldn't they get themselves up for a game that would throw them right in the playoff mix against one of the worst teams in the league?

I wasn't there last night so could only go off the twitter feed, but some times it seems to me seems like that when we are playing teams in and around the bottom of the table the mentality is that we just need to turn up and we will win, which more often than not ends up in either a defeat or a poor performance and just getting a result.

This ^^ Along with one or two ridiculous MMMB comments being picked up by the BPA message board, that were no doubt shared with the club. So of course that's going to fire them up. It's a game of XI v XI, and no matter how much more talent a team might have, if they come up against a side that wants it more it usually spells trouble.

Said it in August, I'll say it again now!
Top 10 is a success!
The fact we're disappointed at what was probably a killer blow at our playoff chances shows just how far we've come since Lordy took over when just not going down would be a success!

If they could lift the 50mph to 60mph at nights when there is a lot less traffic it would be nice, but then "no pain, no gain" - maybe in 10 years time I'll be able to drive to Bradford and not go below 70mph

Just managed to obtain a signal in the remote uplands of Southern Scotland, and read about what I missed last night. If ever there was a match to avoid, sounds as if I somehow picked it...
Whether the poor showing was due to a heavy pitch, the biting wind, sheer weight of expectation, or just a bad evening-shift at the office, County do at least only have a couple of days before being able to bounce back. Hopefully, we shall do so this weekend.
Oh - and get those yellow Dizzy Blonde shirts ditched. The win at Alsager notwithstanding, they NEVER bring us any luck!
