herm mentioning salford on the yeovil match thread reminded me that when i was driving to the game last saturday i'd flicked onto talksport and heard mike parry talking about them. he used the word 'romantic' twice about the speed of their climb to league football from down the non-league pyramid...
not sure what's more romantic than having a foreign billionaire (who also owns valencia) as majority owner, and then a load of other millionaires using it for their tv profiles. i quickly put some pavement on the stereo (the 'sordid sentinels' edition of 'wowee zowee' just to specify for maccy and eps) because that story was trying its best to ruin opening day. when i reached EP, my brother had also heard it and was also incredulous. it just shows that you can say pretty much anything on talksport and no-one will call you out for it on air because their listeners are all soccer saturday white van w**kers who are ONE HUNDRED AND TEN PERCENT CHELSEA and like to throw BME passers-by off the metro just because they're ONE HUNDRED AND TEN PERCENT CHELSEA. FRANKIE'S...HATE CRIME ARMY. etc

AZ Alkmaar - part of the stadium roof has been blown of by the wind. Luckily no-one was injured.
(although its in Dutch) it makes you wonder. Apparently in 2006 the fire service had reservations and made the council aware but it 'appears' nothing was done.

Bury, Bolton and now its Macclesfields turn....Shamir Mullings, Elliott Durrell, Rhys Taylor, Jamie Grimes, Ryan Lloyd and Keith Lowe, all named by the club, took on the petition in July after failing to receive salary payments. Although Macclesfield's statement - which also named the players involved for the first time - accepted liability for the delay in payments which accounted for three months of wages, they were critical of the group for going through the court process.......................
Unbelievable comments from the club.

Shocking conduct and a total lack of respect and confidentiality from Macclesfield.
They are essentially trying to deflect blame away from themselves and onto a small group of players for the financial failings of the club, purely because they had the temerity to expect to be paid in line with their contact that was signed by both parties. These guys aren’t earning a fortune either. Like everyone else, they will have rent/mortgages to pay, potentially children to support etc.
Macclesfield’s financial problems are certainly not their fault. Most football fans should see through that club statement and understand that, but they certainly don’t deserve to have a target placed on their head like that.

Rumour has it this is nothing new with their late salary payments

Indeed, it's been going on a long while and, as just one example, why Halls left seasons back when they wouldn't pay their bonuses. Blaming players is just pathetic from those responsible for the issue.

hopefully the players involved have enough contacts in the game even without this publicity to influence players with choices about clubs to select one not based at moss rose. i assume that a lot of players at the lower levels have at least a little bit more life experience than those at the very top, and may have enough about them for it to be a deciding factor...then it will have come back to bite the idiots responsible on the arse.

If these clubs cant pay their players on time they ate living beyond their means and should get a points deduction or be pulled up by the EFL. Its a joke that they go unpunished and carry on as normal. No wonder Sol Campbell left.
