This may be a good year to finish in the top four of the National league if teams like Bolton, Bury, Macclesfield and another are ejected.
Probable no one will be relegated from Division 2 though.

Edited as intended !!! I blame old age (5 weeks until the pension arrives) and wishful thinking.

Anyone know the latest at Bury and Bolton?
Both teams have a great history (and I've got a family connection to Bolton).
Hoping they survive to fight another day...

Bury have officially gone. Let’s hope they are able to salvage a new club from the wreckage of Dale. Start again like Wimbledon and Hereford.
As my son likes to sing. f*** the EFL

I shudder at the thought of what might have happened had our club fallen into the hands of the 'PID' group.

There really is some sh*te written in The Guardian at times! This government are on the brink of destroying the country on the basis of an ADVISORY referendum, with the opposition doing little to f*** all about it - so how the hell can this paper even entertain the notion that parliament can have a positive influence on League football? Astonishing.

I've just had a discussion with a Liverpool supporting mate of mine, here's the gist of what I said to him.
The Premier League, Sky and the Bosman ruling hasn't helped.
Then you have the fact that big clubs can poach talented youth players from little clubs for absolute peanuts and no sell on clauses, which has always been the lifeblood of clubs like us and Bury.
Nowhere near enough money filters down as there used to be, so smaller clubs have to find other ways to move up the ladder, which is probably why they embrace every chancer and shyster out there to help them get promoted etc.
Look at the teams big clubs put in the league cup now in the early rounds, we used to make money off those games because we packed our stadiums to see these bigger clubs and top stars play.
Now they just send out half arsed teams full of second string players and Chelsea loanees that nobody's f***ing heard of. What about that absolute b*ll*cks allowing premier League 'academy' teams in the f***ing checkatrade trophy - a trophy to give League one and League two teams the chance to get to Wembley.
Top flight football is draining the bottom of everything it's had, so nowadays they're at the mercy of no goods with no money.
Fans pressure owners to spend more, some of our own fans are still doing it now, even after all that's happened to us. So some owners buckle and sell to the next dodgy c*** that comes along.
It's not just about the smaller clubs not doing their job properly, but Sky etc are trying to sweep that sh*t under the f***ing carpet.
That's what I said to him after he messaged me "RIP, Bury - The EFL are a disgrace". Now to be fair, he genuinely cares and is always following County's results and was the first to ring me when we got promoted, but there are plenty of big club fans out there, younger fans with no knowledge of what's gone on saying exactly the same thing this morning and not realising the absolute f***ing irony of what they're saying.
Poor kid steals an apple, so let's throw the book at him, rather than find out why he stole it.

Some fans of lower League clubs rant at proper fans of the bigger clubs for 'having the gall' to support big clubs and lament the death of a smaller one, I've heard it and read it myself - but it's not that simple.
That's THEIR club, the one that many have supported all their lives, it chose them they didn't choose it - the divide we see now was made by greedy TV companies and greedy owners and shareholders, not the fans who have strong, genuine emotional ties to their clubs.
There's both sides to this story and some lower League fans need to realise this. There are genuine big club supporters out there who do care and who do not like the way football has gone, but that ground, that badge, it means something to them - they can't just ditch it.
Just my opinion for what it's worth.
