there's a few double a's that are pretty impressive - first one that springs to mind is 'penny lane/strawberry fields forever'.
from the very late 70's/early 80's which you're mainly doing above, 'are friends electric?', 'kings of the wild frontier', 'ghost town', 'going underground', 'town called malice', 'golden brown', 'story of the blues', 'ceremony', heaven 17's 'let me go' for starters.

Took my daughter to see heaven 17 at the acadamy a few months back , she is well into the 80s largely thanks to gene hunt in ashes to ashes on telly , they were brilliant , dedicated facist groove thang to tony benn as he had died that week , they were supported by Blancmange ,, how about " living on the ceiling "

Best 7" single I ever bought was the live five track 'Too Much Too Young' EP by The Specials. With the brilliant 'Skinhead Symphony' classic Ska covers medley on one side comprising of 'Longshot kick the bucket', 'Liquidator' & 'Skinhead Moonstomp'.... Immense!

some good 'uns there, particularly 'be my baby'.
feel slightly sacrilegious saying i never entirely 'got' dylan, but 'like a rolling stone' was an absolutely tremendous single.
the sixties was pretty fertile. how about 'dock of the bay' or 'pretty flamingo', among hundreds of others?

Oh, and I totally agree with this!^^^ you're both totally out of order. whassa matter? gotta no respect? ...i f***ing loved 'vienna' at the time, so loathed dolce too. and a few others of theirs in the early 80's too, like 'reap the wild wind', 'visions in blue' and 'lament'.

Oh, and I totally agree with this!^^^ you're both totally out of order. whassa matter? gotta no respect? ...i f**king loved 'vienna' at the time, so loathed dolce too. and a few others of theirs in the early 80's too, like 'reap the wild wind', 'visions in blue' and 'lament'. The thing about 'Vienna' was that it was just so unusual, the operatic chorus, the electronic music and that video too. If ever there was a case for a single being hyped, it was Dolce's. There is no way on this planet that under normal 'all things being equal' circumstances 'Vienna' would have been beaten to number one by that absolute steaming pile of horse manure. It was 100% pure chart-rigging in my opinion.
