Replying to my own post here may be bad form but this is really good news. If County are to become a strong L1 / Championship side then EP's current capacity will need to be increased so expanding at the Railway End and the Pop Side / Cowsheds and also extending the length of the Bergara stand will definitely help. Needless to say this will also include expanded catering and entertainments stuff - secondary spend but still a valuable income stream for the club. (Given today's football "economics" any club needs all the income streams it can get). There's also a stadium expansion website (that I at least hadn't seen before). www.stockportcounty.com/stadiumexpansion/Hmmm, lots to read and as many visitors to the drop in sessions as possible......

Looks amazing, makes perfect sense to build the railway end (East Stand) first. No real effect on the fans or stadium. Making the Danny Stand go all the way along the pitch will also be something brilliant. And as for the Pop side plans it might actually mean a decent camera angle!

Interesting document showing how many hoops have to be jumped through. The main area of contention is the so called conservation area which appears to be earmarked for a new car park. 7 objections from page 29.

Wow, that's an, ahem, interesting read. Basket Weaving, a Club Orchard and food garden, in the long term possible reintroduction of Pipistrelle Bats etc etc
So where is the proposed car park and how big would it be and, unless I'm being stupid, which, y'know, does happen.... where would the car park be and how would it be accessed? Would it be round the back of the Railway End, in the old Booth Street Depot?
I yield to no-one in my love of nature but blimey they seem to pulling out all the stops and, if anything, trying too hard and for that reason I'm unconvinced that the Council would be swayed by their arguments. Not least because the parcel of land is bounded by the old Edgeley Engine Shed from the glory days of steam, now the site of Network Rail operations and the main line, by Edgeley Park and by the Moscow Road housing so, with the best will in the world, it is not pristine farmland or moorland.
So the arguments about loss of threatened habitat and damage to biodiversity are about 150 years too late.

My response to this is simply show me when it's finished.
Proof of the pudding mode has been initiated - standing by....

There were a lot of coulds and potentiallies in there. They are definitely throwing everything ever written about environmental protection in there. I am a naturally nature inclined individual but this particular slice of land is never going to be an oasis. The little ‘plan’ they had of it at the end demonstrates the lack of space that there is. Their concerns over pollution and runoff from the Carpark construction and operation are fair and that should be addressed by the club. But most of the rest is twaddle.
