This is the one: www.meaco.com/products/meacofan-1056-air-circulatorCan rotate side to side and up and down (or both) and has a remote. Got tired of the noisy pedestal one in the daytime nevermind at night so spent on this and, 2 summers later, glad I did! During waking hours I just put it on Eco mode (usually goes to 4 or 5 out of 12 levels in 25-ish temps then at night I lower it to mininum levels (1 or 2 out) and it does the job quietly from about 10-12 ft on those settings. Thanks, H. That would be perfect for the living room, but this would be for my bedroom. I have mild tinnitus you see, which makes silence horrible for me sometimes, so the noise a fan makes helps to cancel that out when I'm trying to sleep. Not only that, the drone of the fan helps drown out any daytime noise when I'm on nights, so while I'm sleeping during the day I do need a noisier fan than that one. It's very smart, though, and one I may consider getting as a downstairs fan. Cheers, mate.

Good picture and (re-opening) news for those of us Heaveners who have been known, from time to time, to meet up here pre-match...

I've probably mentioned these before, but I'm still listening to them regularly today, so they're definitely worth another!
The BBC Radio Sherlock Holmes adaptations, with the utterly brilliant Clive Merrison as Holmes and equally brilliant Michael Williams as Watson.
Andrew Sachs later did a sterling job of playing Watson following Williams' death, but not before the original duo had completed the entire works of Conan Doyle together.
The first was a two-part dramatisation of 'A Study In Scarlet', so here's part one to give you an idea of just how good they were.
My advice is to suspend every other portrayal you've seen or heard before playing, then you can judge them objectively.

Spanish high speed rail service AVE, round trip to Madrid cost just over 100 Euros for a journey of over 1000Km. Heading back to the coast and sunshine and beaches now on a super smooth train that has just hit 300kph which is around 185 mph. Less than three hours each way, luggage racks, leather reclining seats, entertainment channels, wooden folding table to rest kindle on, charging points! And if we are more than ten minutes late apparently we get a partial refund!

Don't tell me that you're not missing the free-for-all that is Britain's rail network, with the vastly over crowded trains, the every man for himself nature of even the shortest journeys, the delays, the cancellations, extortionate pricing, those journeys where even the aisles and doorways are packed with standing passengers where you need to be able to breathe through your arse to survive - because if you say you don't, I'm calling bullshit!

So, approximately the same that Northern Rail want to charge me for a return from Carlisle to Stockport for a home game, in a 30 year old carriage that can take well over two hours if it involves as it sometimes does, two changes. Awesome, so proud we've left the civilised part of Europe so that we can wallow in this third rate "paradise" that the Tories are trying to create.

I have to add a slight amendment. If the train is 15 minutes late you get 50% of the value of your ticket back!
And yes I remember fondly British trains, my first (and thanks to covid my only) trip back from here I looked to book a train from Bristol to Brum just the £93 one way….

I've looked at going down for the forthcoming FA Trophy game. Even buying a ticket this far in advance costs £66.70 standard but if I want to travel in the sort of comfort you described it would cost an eye-watering £238! The return journey, including 1 change at Preston takes 2 hours 37 minutes. I could get back quicker on a chuffing skateboard.

Experienced a few travelling Hatters over the years popping up to our media areas at other grounds displaying a 'Press' sign, and then doing this and posting it on Facebook!
