This is a good appointment for sure. I think he’ll sort out the egos. He has done it at this level and hopefully can salvage this season and make a strong tilt at promotion next season if we fall short this time.
For all that, I don’t like how we’ve gone about this. Poaching a manger who is under contract at another club maybe the way of modern football but it does seem rather unethical.
We used to have the club motto “the Friendly Football Club”. We certainly don’t live up to that and I fear we’re becoming a scummy club.

This was my fear when the takeover happened. That we would become one of those moneybags clubs who think the answer to everything can be bought. I hope I’m proved wrong but stealing another clubs manager mid season is not something I would appreciate happening to us so I wouldn’t wish it on another club.

Let's hope Dave can bring back some confidence and pride back to those that wear the shirt, most of all I'm praying for some attractive attacking football being played again on the hallowed turf of EP! I think he'll be able to clip the wings of all the "bigger players" who think all they have to do is turn up on a Saturday to get a start!
I do agree with Harrogate and Dud's comments above but I'm also on the fence about it to be honest. I do think we went about this the wrong way if what Hartlepool are saying is true and it does start to feel like we're becoming the next club to be disliked because our answer to everything is "buy this or buy that" but should I care what other supporters say about County? End of the day all County fan's are going to support County through thick and thin and other teams supporters are going to support their respected teams. We've been sat in non league obscurity for far too long now and if Dave is the man to get us back to league football then I'd rather be a hated club in League 2 than a liked club in the National League.

Shortly before JG was sacked, I believe we were highest in the NL for corners per game, entries into opposition box 6and expected goals. So, with a capable manager again, I don't doubt the improvement from where SR had taken us will be considerable.

I agree with what's been said regarding the way this deal has been done, as I too fear that we are in danger of becoming a club that everyone will love to hate.
Give me hard work and punching above our weight over bankrolling our way back to the football League any day of the week, there's far more integrity and kudos doing it that way.

Can't help but think this is a really positive appointment. Track record of success. Will know how to handle the big name players. Has experience of first team management. Has knowledge of NL/lg2 players to help future recruitment be better. Knows how to set teams up with multi dimensional shapes. Under pinned by fair play, so hopefully no.more of the petulance we saw under the previous manager.

I share the concerns about what sort of club we are becoming. Under Danny, Jones and even Megson we were a small club earning everything good what we got, and perhaps deserving more.
I remember how we used to feel when fans from West Brom, Birmingham and the red and white team from the potteries (the team that must not be named), came to EP and didn't hide that they thought they were "too good for this division" - I fear we may be turning into that sort of team.
Then again, taking a left turn into the NFL, back in 1984 I picked the New England Patriots to be one of my NFL teams (the other being Tampa Bay - one in each conference). I picked them because they were seen as a dark horse, but also knowing that they were seen as a team that never quite fulfilled their potential.
Cue many years of disappointment until 2001 when Tom Brady and Bill Belichick unleashed the new style Patriots who courted controversy and generated huge amounts of envy but in many ways they won because the whole organisation was devoted to being one team and having no big heads or clashing egos. The way they have successfully managed some big egos and year after year of roster turnover is remarkable,
A bit of that would do nicely to help SCFC get back where they belong. Fingers crossed.

Unfortunately this is modern football, luring players and managers to bigger clubs with the promise of more money, more chances to win things etc. I have no doubt if a bigger club came along, say in the Championship any County manager would have to look hard at it and if right move on. We may just be a stepping stone for DC in his career but I for one am glad he is here. A no nonsense football manager who knows what he is doing and knows how to work with players to achieve-something the previous incumbent appeared not to understand!
Another thought do you think Rusk was a fall guy as it would have been really difficult to appoint DC when Jim was sacked, (same division, similar record etc) so they needed a makeweight to go as a buffer? We’re they always wanting DC as manager?

We’re they always wanting DC as manager? For me, SR is indeed a fall guy... but only in the sense that the person most clearly responsible for backwards trajectory on the football pitch is still in post, while SR has gone from a 'highly rated' coach in an elite academy to a 'sacked non-league manager' in no time at all. Was DC the 'wanted one' all along? I doubt it very much. SW was entrusted with the football side and wanted a head coach who would deliver his vision. He seemingly parachuted in SR from his list of... 1 candidate. But with this latest decision removed from SW, an actual manager has now been apppinted to recover the losses of the past 9 months of SW's decisions.

It seems to be either you have lots of cash and the path upwards is generally easier and quicker , or you struggle and work with a limited budget and it can take a long long time. I dont think there is a happy medium. I think the more players earn and the longer their contracts the less hunger they have. Again the club have tied them down so we dont lose them but at what price.
I dont think there is a happy medium and I'm definitely not a happyfor the club to buy success like Premier League clubs.
As they say 'money talks.'

Unfortunately this is modern football, luring players and managers to bigger clubs with the promise of more money, I'm not sure that there's anything new about it. The story goes that in 1928, Herbert Chapman the Arsenal Manager invited members of the Bolton Wanderers board to a London hotel in order to discuss the transfer of David Jack. He drank Gin and Tonics without the Gin and ordered the bar staff to increase the size of the whisky shots for the Bolton Directors and got them plastered in a bid to talk the transfer fee down to something like he wanted to pay, around £10000 in the end.

Maybe that's how we can get rid of Wilson? Get him pi**ed and stick him on a train, any train with a one-way ticket!
