Other 50-plus-percenters: Kayode Odejayi Joe Reid (early '20s) Dave Cooke (late '60s) Had high hopes for Mansour Assoumani - but, alas, his vowels and consonants are equally divided! slow news day chaps?
any surnames with no vowels apart from (mike) flynn?
would have preferred us to keep osborne - young, and already affecting a lot of games. it's all about who we bring in though. good luck to festus. very raw, but a good breakthrough season during which he was mostly improving by the game.

Mark Lynch could keep Flynny company in the no-vowel-surnames club!

ah of course. i was trying to think of another where a 'y' substituted for an 'i', but must admit that with the GBV attention span, i didn't devote too long.

It's a shame that we've had to let Paul Turnbull and Sam Walker go, but I trust Jim's judgement completely.
I'm sure we'll see Bully back at County in the future in some capacity, but I wish them both well in their next moves.
It's going to be an interesting few weeks!
Cheers for posting, Ceef.

I was more surprised that we’ve kept Sam Minihan, Adam Thomas and Nyall Bell. I think Sam and Adam’s versatility has saved them from the chop and will help the squad should we get injuries during the season. Can’t see them being more than squad players. Bell has improved and I think Jim thinks he will improve further.
I’m not too upset that Walker and Bully have been allowed to leave as they are both average Conference players in my opinion and clearly Jim is trying to build a squad that could get us back to League 2 and beyond.

Shame to see them go and I think history will remember their time at County very fondly and both played a huge role in our runs in the FA Cup and FA Trophy as well as being integral to us winning the league!
I'm happy enough to see Minihan, Thomas and Bell given another year, I think Jim sees Nyal as his pet project, he's clearly got alot of talent and can be one of the best players in non-league on his day but seems to suffer badly with confidence issues, if he doesn't have a good game for 2 or 3 games in a row he sinks into himself, I've no doubt though, if anyone can get the self-belief flowing in the lad, it's Jim.
And with that ends my career as a sports psychologist haha!

I guess until we see the effects of being actual full time footballers has on some of these guys we won’t know their true level. I think Bully’s time should be up but he will always be remembered as an incredibly loyal servant.

I've seen enough in Bell to suggest there's definitely something to work on there, in much the same way as I did with Tom Elliott when he first arrived at County. Yes, he was raw, but some of the stick he got was ridiculous. I saw something in him that made me think there's a player there if we give him long enough, which was proved right, albeit for a short time. I think it's safe to say that he's done alright for himself since, though.

I'm starting to get excited for the new season and looking forward to the players coming in if what Jim says is correct (and why wouldn't it be!!) then these new players should be the best standard of guys we've seen come in for a good few years!
Looks like I might be the only one but I don't understand why Bell has been kept on? He offer's us nothing and I can't see him starting many games next season, especially if we bring someone in who know's where the goal is! His decision making is awful and if he gets out of single figure next season i'll be very surprised. Does anyone know what's going on with Stephenson?
Shame about Bully but I do have to admit that there was games last season where he was well off the pace. I'm sure we'll see him back at County in some capacity in the future though and wish him all the best if he decides to carry on his playing career.

Delighted that we are retaining Hinchliffe and Palmer, in particular (ditto Keane, although we already knew that he was staying) - as well as Minihan and Thomas, too, although I suspect that the latter two will feature as good squad players, rather than regulars.
Turnbull and Walker have been excellent leaders on and off the pitch. Both genuinely nice blokes, too, who I have good to know quite well through my media work, and shall miss seeing around. I wish them both well - and neither should ever have to buy a pint in or around Stockport again.
So far as Bell is concerned, I do take the view that Jim sees something to work on. He is still a raw player, but, hopefully, playing alongside and off a striker with the experience of Bennett will work well for him and the team.
Stephenson, I understand, is still on the books - and due to resume training, in the hope he can get back to his best. It will be like signing a new player if he does!
On the possible arrivals front, there are pretty strong rumours about Connor Jennings re-joining - which would be a major coup.

Both have played at a higher level and are local boys too. Most importantly from what I’ve seen on each of their twitter posts saying how happy they are to be here, there are fans of their old clubs saying how much they will miss them. We don’t want cast offs. The only way is up, in Jim we trust

I don't know anything about his brother, but Connor Jennings coming back is a MAJOR plus.
