Just home from that one - second half was a much better game (despite result) - we were well on top when Howard made a difficult header from Oates's cross - could easily have gone just wide. From there we could and should have scored 2 or 3 more but I always felt that Leamington could have got back into it - and they did! Sloppy defending/marking led to both goals and to be honest after the first goal I don't think we were really in it, but a draw would have been fair. I said Battersby was my star man in the first - hardly noticed him in the second - to be honest hardly noticed any of them after the equaliser - I wonder what Lordy made of it on Pure?
I suppose it will be likely we will play there again next year - lovely on a sunny day - but the away terrace is very open (and if wet - oh dear). 2 small seated areas (200 covered seats down one side and 50 uncovered seats behind the dugouts. Terracing all the way round (only the home end was covered) - but as we all swapped ends at half time we at least were undercover for the second half.
Car park does get very full, but the stewards knew what they were doing and the park and ride service seems very popular and had departure priority but to be honest I was out in my car within 10 minutes of the end of the game so not complaining.
Nice friendly club - typical of this level of football, I shall hope to enjoy their company again next season.

Just a quick update on their No 10 - ligaments - not as bad as we all feared - was seen on crutches heading for the clubhouse bar during the second half! Good news for him

Went today. First half was the worst I've ever been to. Second was only marginally better, obviously because of the goals. Good to catch up with some of the 90s Midlands Hatters. Didn't see any Heaveners though.
PS Nice bottled beer 'Brakes [sic] Fluid' by Warwickshire Brewery..

Thanks mhh, I think! Very disappointing. Our defence has looked good up until the last few games. I'm sure Al and the team will sort it.
Sums up our season - so near, yet so far.

Why can't we afford a groundsman to give us a pitch like this on our gates? McKnight, hang your head in shame you utter waste of ******* Oxygen: Photo posted by County1883 on Marionsboard. Our groundsman doesn't even like football. His main love is preparing bowls greens.

Grateful thanks to mhh for a highly professional broadcasting job today. (Hopefully, he will remember to bring my Motty sheepskin coat back up to EP for the Barrow game!)
Sounds as if County seized defeat from the jaws of victory. Am guessing that Jacobs was rather sorely missed at the back?
Radio Macc concentrated its efforts on drama of another kind this afternoon, as Mrs M's Sylvia Pankhurst monologue went down a storm at The People's History Museum. We even had time afterwards to potter around The National Football Museum, so I still managed to get my Saturday fix!

Hasn't been a game there since 29 January and that was abandoned after 12 minutes! First abandoned game in 14 years, and the rain that came in horizontally would have halted any game.

MHMetro: 1-1 in 73rd minute, shot from edge of box Need to visit Specsavers. Newton was on the point of the six-yard box, swivelled and struck a (weakish) shot which took a couple of deflections off defenders legs and crept into the goal.

PS Nice bottled beer 'Brakes [sic] Fluid' by Warwickshire Brewery.. I said it was a nice drop (and not just because it was the brainchild of my brother a few years back). Did you take it warm, chilled or cold?

I asked the Director who was manning the away turnstiles and 335 of the 1038 came through them. Any home fans/spectators that used them would be offset by any away fans that used the home turnstiles, to be honest. A very good showing for a club some of you would never have heard of until this season. The attendance was our 4th highest ever standard league attendance, beaten only by Rugby Town (twice) and Nuneaton Town.

You need to read the thread properly and realise I wasn't at the game, I was relaying the text updates from mhh. No apology necessary

Its all down to the goals being at the far end of the ground and my eyesight not being what it was when I was 40!

It all goes with the live broadcasting territory, laddie . You'll still have to go some way to beat my mixing up Craney and Dennis, when our goal went in at Mossley!!
