really pleased with that result. really like the manager, the team's attitude off the pitch seems really positive, and we played really well for a bit and got the result. too many tournaments i've known i was watching a gang of kn*bs and then they haven't even had the decency to get results for us. so far, it's refreshing.

Plastic Paddy Lawrenson is a long way the worst. who would have guessed?
followed by danny murphy, perhaps?
and the worst players?
jordan henderson raheem sterling trent alexander-arnold luis suarez mohammed salah philippe coutinho?
not that i'm arguing about lawrenson particularly...

Not sure what's happened to Lawrenson in the last year but he's gone from Mr Softee to Mr Angry. Danny Murphy - good judge. Henderson - not my favourite but has progressed and not let the side down. Sterling - come through disgraceful treatment from Liverpool supporters when playing for England. Obviously helps that he's playing for a half decent team. Alexander-Anderson - very promising. Suarez - ignorant thug. Salah - lit up the season. Coutinho - decent now he's escaped

Am I alone in being intensely irritated by the continual sniping of the commentators and their relentless negativity? Try Terry Butcher on 5 live. He is awful. I agree with your point though. I guess they’re not used to even bothering to be positive. It's not just the lack of anything positive to say, it's the non stop opinion, repeated ad nauseum. If that's what I want to listen to I'll go the pub and listen to any number of 'experts'imparting opinion as fact.

I don't know if most know this but the Icelandic naming convention is different from ours. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Icelandic_nameI'm thinking that Mr Schram is the son of a foreign man and an Icelandic woman. In case you hadn't already realised it, they are a very idiosyncratic nation.

Just athought at the end of week one:-
If England can't win the World Cup this time (having seen the level of opposition so far in all the groups), we never will in the future.

Wouldn't it be glorious if the team-sheet 'leak' turned out to be a deliberate misdirect with Southgate checking on how much the recent open access to the squad was being respected by the scum tabloids.
I'd have thought that the original plan would have been to start the first two matches with the same eleven and then rotate for the third match. It doesn't seem that Alli will make it tomorrow but I'd be slightly surprised (and disappointed) at any other changes. It sounds like it will be hot out there so substitutions may be earlier particularly in the front five who will have covered a lot of ground.

Phil Neville on Belgium :"wonderfully gifted players - wonderfully, individually gifted players...." Eh?
