Great so far for Downy, and for Granada, 1-0 up away to Valencia!
This will be a huge win if they can hold on, both in terms of the quality of the opposition and the vital survival points.

Blimey, archie, Osasuna just went 2-0 at home to Atletico with an absolute screamer from about 25 yards!
Valencia turned their game on its head though, beating Granada 2-1.

To be fair to Osasuna, they've played brilliantly, and every player has really put a shift in. It's been a strange weekend in La Liga, it's just a shame that Real Madrid couldn't have dropped points too, keep things nice and tight at the top.

Levante play Osasuna next. I thought it would be a home banker - not so confident now!

They really did play out of their skins tonight, but Levante will have the home advantage. Should be a good game!

Well, that's the second game week over with. Here are the results:
Friday
Real Valladolid (eliminated) 1-1 Levante (Epworth)
Saturday
Real Madrid (County Benno) 3-0 Elche (Shropshire) - Elche eliminated Celta de Vigo (Sandbach) 1-1 Getafe (eliminated) Real Sociedad (Sir Roger) 3-1 Barcelona (Gazza) - Barcelona eliminated
Sunday
Rayo Vallecano (eliminated) 0-1 Sevilla (Dudley) Valencia (eliminated) 2-1 Granada (Down Under) - Granada eliminated Osasuna (eliminated) 3-0 Atletico Madrid (Archie) - Atletico Madrid eliminated
Monday
Espanyol (Calliope) 1-2 Villareal (eliminated) - Espanyol eliminated.
Crikey! We lost a fair few teams (and consequently players) there, didn't we? It's cheerio to:
Shropshire Gazza Downy Archie Calliope
Special mention of commiseration to Calliope, who's Espanyol were 2-0 down before pulling a goal back and then disastrously missing a penalty in the final minute of the match - a penalty that would have seen Calliope safely through to the next round.
So who IS still in?
Epworth - Levante County Benno - Real Madrid Sandbach - Celta de Vigo Sir Roger - Real Sociedad Dudley - Sevilla
Game week 3 fixtures to follow.

Saturday
Levante (Epworth) v Osasuna (eliminated) Elche (eliminated) v Celta de Vigo (Sandbach)
Sunday
Atletico Madrid (eliminated) v Real Madrid (County Benno) Sevilla (Dudley) v Real Sociedad (Sir Roger)
Just the one tie featuring two teams still in the competition this game week then. So could Dudley and Sir Roger please send me a PM with their guess for the following tie-break:
What will be the attendance a Hull v Newcastle this coming Saturday? PM's by Friday please chaps.
Remember, for the rest of us, a draw will be sufficient to see us through. If we're down to three players or less by the end of this game week, next week will be the finale.

Spoken with Jagoba Arrasate and requested more of the same from Sunday's performance. Would have preferred it to be at home. However, bring it on!
