I didn't have the heart to tell Sandy Jnr the truth, so I've told him Danny has gone to live on a special farm.

It's tough, isn't it? I thought it best to be straight up with my lad and tell him that Danny's left us to become a character in Fifa '18.

Best of luck to him, he's deserved his step or more of a leap really, up the leagues. As Gazza says it's just frustrating that we are now left with empty pockets!
Good memories don't pay the bills sadly. However as I've always said I trust in Jim infinitely and trust he already has a new starting XI in mind if he needed it!

The benefit of Danny going to posh is that other hungry young players may see us as a route into full time profesional ranks with a league club.
Also their manager said Danny has played in a similar system here so he might be tempted into lending us a couple of players...

Or there's a sign at the entrance to Peterborough's training ground saying "you must be taller than this line to play here" and he's a few centimetres short!!! hee hee hee!!!

Really good article, I really do wish Danny all the best and hope he is a massive success at Peterborough, I'm sure he will always get a great reception should he return to Edgeley Park.
Cheers for posting the link Herman

Great piece, H - thanks for sharing.
The initial 'pi**ed-offness' I felt yesterday has subsided somewhat, not least from reading that message from Danny to the club and the fans. I still need to reiterate that my initial anger and frustration was not aimed at any individual, just the situation we are currently in.
Good luck to him, he deserves his chance. Just one thing, Danny - no cupping your ear if you ever score against us in the future!
Now, can the footballing Gods please be kind to us next season and get us out of this league - I think we've more than served our time in purgatory!

great article that. great words from jim, and about as good as you could get in terms of sentiments from a departing player.
i was pissed off about it, which was why i didn't comment yesterday, but i'm at least glad that the most inevitable news of the summer has come early, and it's to a decent club loads of levels up, and not the likes of f***ing macclesfield.
i also believe that broadly, jim will keep taking us forward. the hole left by danny's goals and threat level does leave me concerned though. while it's mostly been rubbish, at least we've progressed a bit each season at this level. we have to get this summer's recruitment right in order to avoid stalling or even slipping back out of the play off reckoning.

I'm highly encouraged by Jim's words about now being able to attract high quality players who have now seen that under Gannon, players can reach their full potential. Under Gannon we've had Alex Kenyon, Danny Lloyd, Richard O'Donnell and probably a few others, go on to be Football League players. Not to mention the plethora of players who strutted their stuff in the League 1, The Championship and even the Premier League.
The man has forgotten more about football than I will ever know. I have full faith he's already got a replacement in mind and a back-up lest his first choice replacements falls through and of course a back-up for him and so on and so forth!

I think that's just about right - we need proven goal scorers - and our three main strikers last term did not contribute enough, and so they have all gone!
