Cheers JLC. Pretty much agree with all of those decisions on players there. Very happy with that.

Thanks for sharing Jimbos, I'm pleased with the 4 that have signed new contracts, I hope Brazel signs I was impressed with him when I saw him play against Gloucester.

I'm pleased as well. I suppose the CB Jim refers to is probably justified when you consider that CMW and Ross have left. I think we might need another RB. Then it's all about the forwards!

Yep - that all looks good. Cartwright (especially in the closing stages) and Smalley more than deserved retention. And Thomas is akin to being a new signing, given that his injury stemmed from the very first friendly last summer at Cheadle Heath. Look forward very much to seeing him properly in action.
Hope that Etches and West take the respective opportunities they have to fulfil their potential. On the basis of his performances when he started against Bradford and Gloucester, I reckon that Brazel has a good chance of impressing further and earning himself a contract.
Best of luck to Amis, too. No shortage of effort on his part when he played, and he showed a commendable attitude by not responding to some pretty vile stuff on social media. The NLN was probably too much of a jump for him (other than as a useful impact-sub), but, hopefully, he can do a decent job for a club at the next step down.
Cheers for the link, jimbos. Better get to work on our squad-thread now...!

I'm pleased as well. I suppose the CB Jim refers to is probably justified when you consider that CMW and Ross have left. Reading Jim's words - "We're also considering an experienced leader type centre back" - Simon Grand could well be seriously in our sights...

Under 'Support' on the Oxford English Dictionary website, among its many definitions is the following: "A source of comfort or encouragement."Some of our 'supporters' seem unable grasp that concept and probably never will. Good luck to the lad, I hope he proves his doubters wrong.

Agree, Gaz. We all have our opinions on players, but to shout abuse at a guy who plays for the club you claim to "support" is plain daft. As for going after them on social media: Life really is wasted on some people...

Hopefully Amis can find the level to do well. Unfortunately while we hoped it would come off and he gave 100%, there did seem too much of a disparity between the technique needed for the level and what he showed over the season. Looking forward to seeing what Thomas can do over a season with Minihan behind him. Could be a really good right side. Together with Hinchliffe and Montrose, Clarke and Smalley did form a pretty solid foundation centrally and it would have been tough on Smalley if he hadn't been offered another season. Cartwright is another I think we can have hopes in when it comes to development this season. As said though, certainly now looks like a Grand-type (or Grand himself!) will be coming in from that press release. .... Actually... Telford scored the fewest goals in the league but were saved by having the 7th best defensive record - quite a feat when you don't offer a threat. If looking for a CB/leader-type, there's someone there filling such a role with a bit of a connection to County. .... And now Grand's dad (?) is following County's Twitter... this is all too much to take. Who could it be?

I've never claimed to be the biggest Josh Amis fan and was left scratching my head on a number of occasions at his continued selection but I would never and I mean NEVER openly boo/criticise an active member of the coaching or playing staff as long as they were employees of Stockport County FC.
It's clear the Conference North is too much of a step up for him but I'm sure he'll find himself at another team slightly further down the system by pre-season.
