Just reading that it was 50 years yesterday that the Beatles were photographed for the iconic front cover of Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and today is 30 years since Prince released Sign O' The Times.
So, I thought I'd start a thread where we can add occassional historical landmarks of interest - it could be music, film, sport, news events, births, deaths and marriages, etc. We may even get the odd County memory thrown in.
(I am aware that it is April 1 tomorrow, so this may decend into farce before it starts - but I'm sure you good people wouldn't do such a thing...)

Good idea, Eppers.
Here is a County-related one. Four years ago today, a group of intrepid Heaveners and other Hatters did their first charity event in support of Kidscan - walking from EP (and, on certain off-road sections of the route, surrounded by Easter Saturday snow) to Macc. All in a great cause - and in time to see County snatch a one-all draw, which was alas to prove insufficient come the season's end...

The day when Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink famously scored for us (according to Sky sources)

Death of John Donne the playright, poet, parson and sometime politician oh, and author of my favourite quote, parts of which are fairly well known but perhaps not all
No man is an Island entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friends or of thine own were. Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind. And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls: It tolls for thee
