It was indeed mhh, exile. Good spot!
Forgot to post this earlier, but here is my 'on-the-whistle' report for Quays News:
*****************************************************************************************************
The Hatters provided Jim Gannon with his first League victory since his return to the managerial hot-seat at Edgeley Park. But they had to mount a concerted rearguard action for much of the second half, after getting their noses in front just before the interval.
The first half had been showing a tendency towards stifling in midfield, with the occasional break by both sides, when, six minutes ahead of half-time, County went in front. The Saints felt that they had been sinned against in the build-up, as Junior English went to ground in the home box - but, in the absence of any whistle, the ball was worked to the left byline, from where Karl Ledsham crossed for Obi Anoruo to stab home from close range.
Having shaded the opening 45 minutes, the Hatters were forced to play much of the second half in their own half, as the hosts, playing with the wind on their backs, launched attack after attack. Courtney Cameron, Steve Diggin and David Moyo all saw shots saved or blocked, while home Captain, Joe Clarke, hit the bar with a looping effort.
The Hatters, to their immense relief, held on to secure a much-needed three points. In doing so, however, they had Lewis Montrose sent off for a second bookable offence in added time.
Result: Brackley Town 0, Stockport County 1 (Anoruo, 39).
Teams:
Brackley: Hornby (GK), English, McDonald, Clarke (C), Slade, Graham (Ndlovu, 75), Cameron (Winters, 86), Lowe, Moyo, Diggin, Walker.
County: Ormson (GK), Connolly, Roberts, Montrose, O’Hanlon (C), Smalley, Menagh (Tonge, 46), Anoruo, Brodie (Odejayi, 85), Marsden (Russell, 64), Ledsham.
Booked:
Brackley: Lowe (90 + 2)
Sent Off:
County: Montrose (90 +2)
On Target: Brackley 8, County 2.
Off Target: Brackley 10, County 5.
Corners: Brackley 8, County 3.
Offsides: Brackley 2, County 3.
Attendance: 436.

Looks like Jim will have more tme to try out new players in the midfield after Montroses pointless sending off. It's obvious he does have passion for County, but he really needs to think what he's doing. We've had enough red cards to last a life time...

I thought in the first half it was very disjointed with no team having any prolonged spells of pressure and even our goal came from pretty much nothing...the second half was horrible to watch, almost all Brackley and both teams playing very ugly football...Dale Tonge has again proven that he is useless as a footballer, he was a halftime replacement and caused more problems than he solved!
I think Montrose's sending off was stupid for getting involved but the ref didn't need to book anybody, it was a nothing bit of handbags and the ref seemed to go on somewhat of a power trip! Either way it didn't matter as we held on for the vital 3 points to ease lingering relegation thoughts! Again I thought Kay provided an experienced head and held up our attacks well and cut out a few dangerous looking attacks for them as well.
Charlie Russell seems to have a terrible anger problems, against Congleton in the first round of the CSC he got into a little bit of a scrap in the middle of the park for absolutely nothing and did the same again yesterday, okay it was a harsh tackle but he needs to trust the officials to do their job and not lose his head. That cost us more than once earlier this season!
Good to catch up, if not briefly with Maccy and MHH before the game as well!

On another day, cards might well have not been brandished for what was a relatively minor skirmish. But the fact remains that Montrose was already on a yellow - and, with his team really under the cosh, he simply should not have mixed it.
The signs are that Rule should be fit to return ahead of Montrose's suspension - which is something of a help. I fear I might be right in saying, however, that the ban will be for two matches, rather than the usual one, given that the player has already been sent off during the current season. Can anyone else confirm this?
Great to see Fudgie, Mhh and Shrops - as well as my old mate, and southern exile, High Lane Hatter 2, who was attending his first County game since Hayes and Yeading Away (at Woking)!

The rights and wrongs of the decision are one thing, but Montrose should never have given the referee a decision to make in the first place.

Having watched 'that' fan restoration of the original 'Silver Screen' version of the 1977 Star Wars movie the other day, I found this quite brilliant:

Why - thank you, Sir! I'm saving "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy" until we get back into the League, and he scores again, but then gets unfairly sent off, at Barnet...
