Looks like being all over by lunch tomorrow. Having a certain player missing didn't help. Cook?

To be quite honest, there's not a lot you can say when your nation is being humiliated - the stats have done all our talking for us. I was a little disappointed when BT won the rights, but not anymore!

I was a little disappointed when BT won the rights, but not anymore! There are a few green shoots of hope there but the Aussies played really well and had a lot of luck.

The main bit of luck was that they had 3 injury-prone fast bowlers who stayed fit for 3 tests in a row and did a great job. Other than that, they have the best batsman in the world in Australian conditions. Over the 3 tests we've been outplayed in all departments but we've managed to throw away decent positions at Brisbane and Perth and contributed to our own demise.
That said, if the same teams showed up at Trent Bridge in our summer, I think we'd come out on top. For a variety of reasons, hardly any country wins (5 match) test series away from home these days.

The tour was doomed ever since the Bristol incident. However, even with Stokes I still think we would have succumbed to defeat. I think it's a very good point you make about them keeping their 3 (very) injury prone fast bowlers fit, Archie. That's been a huge boost for Australia and they have clearly done the business for them - to win a test you have to take 20 wickets and we haven't been able to do that, whereas they have.
I've been hugely disappointed in Cook, Broad and Moeen. Root and Woakes haven't been particularly great either. Who would have guessed pre-series that the biggest positives for England would be the form of Malan - Vince and Stoneman have had their moments as well.
Anderson is bloody brilliant though isn't he? At 35 years of age in conditions that he's never fully excelled in/don't suit his game, he has recorded fantastic figures... I think his bowling average for the series is about 25?! The man just gets better and better... a true legend.

Curran thought he had Warner on 99.
Bloody no ball.

So unlucky for young Tom!
At least Jimmy has sent him on his way for 103, but I think Curran bowled well and he'll be gutted to miss out on a maiden test wicket. Ahh well... you can make it up by getting Smith...

Puts Jimmy level with Courtney Walsh on 519 test wickets!

Puts Jimmy level with Courtney Walsh on 519 test wickets! That is indeed some prestige company, right there - Walsh was brilliant!

That’s a heck of a come back from 100+ for 0 at lunch when I went to bed!
It’s the hope that hurts

Brilliant effort from our bowlers this morning. Broad has bowled the best he has all series, and aside from an ineffectual Moeen we've been very good. Curran finally gets his first test wicket... and what a scalp it was, getting Smith to drag on. Fully deserved given his performance yesterday.

It's time for Cook to put on a good score.

Considering the Aussies were 260-3, wrapping things up for 327 is a brilliant effort. Got a bit of luck early on getting Smith to drag on, and once we found a touch of reverse swing we ran through their middle order.
I still think 327 is a good total on this pitch, it's a bit two paced with some variable bounce, but Australia could easily be 450+ and out of sight on the way to 4-0. Just hope we give a good account of ourselves with the bat now - a score for Cookie wouldn't go amiss!
