Another great performance from our boys today! I fancy us against anyone at the moment - fantastic to send Australia packing as well! We'll see you in December!

To bat like Stokes and Morgan did at 33 for 3 was brilliant.
I know they had nothing to lose , except the game, but that took some balls (literally).

Sky cricket-rights duel with BT to yield over £1bn with BBC set for live return www.theguardian.com/sport/2017/jun/26/cricket-tv-rights-bt-sky-bbc-ecb?T20 on the BBC - whoop-de-do. It's just an Americanisation of a great Sport and I hate it. So if, like me, you want Test cricket, it's going to get even worse - unless you're lucky enough to be able afford to subscribe to both, of course.

Hear, hear.
No coincidence that cricket's national popularity has nose-dived since live Test coverage was lost to terrestrial TV.

Must admit, while I don't like Murdoch and Sky's monopoly on sport, their cricket coverage is exceptional. I fail to see how breaking the monopoly by shifting it towards being shared across 2 subscription services benefits the consumer, as avid cricket fans will have to pay more money to watch all the matches they are interested in.
I would like to see cricket back on terrestrial TV, apart from the 2005 Ashes series I can't say I ever remember seeing cricket on terrestrial - probably goes to show just how long it's been off.
Sadly money talks though, and the likes of the BBC or ITV simply don't have the financial clout to compete with Sky and BT. On the one hand, the huge sums of money being paid for rights are likely to support county cricket and find its way to the grassroots, but on the other hand it can harm participation if kids can't have access to viewing it at an early age.
Regardless, I think cricket is in a good place in this country at the moment. Wish BBC would sack off that pile of s**** that is Wimbledon though - that'd free up a bit of cash for some test cricket!

My 'like' is for this bit, matey. I remember the Test Cricket being on the Beeb. Indeed, Warnie's 'ball of death' to Gatting was broadcast live on the BBC Ashes coverage, but I wonder how many would remember seeing it live had it been on Sky? I can still see Gatting's face now...

Lancashire to rename the Pavillion at Old Trafford after James Anderson - ceremony to be held before today's play vs South Africa.
Great gesture to the greatest England bowler!

Those stats say it all, he's been most successful against the Aussies and South Africa - two of the best sides in the world.

James Anderson takes test wicket number 500. Absolute magician with a cricket ball... greatest we have ever produced. And yet if you read the comments section of the Guardian you'd think he was some kind of donkey because his average is not the greatest.... most of his wickets have been taken in favourable conditions..... etc, etc. These people are like the cretin that sits behind me at EP. 6 - 0 up and he was still whingeing because we went wide left when in his view we should have gone wide right or we retained possession with a pass sideways when we could have lumped it down the field. Anderson became the only the 6th player to take 500 Test wickets. A magnificent achievement that puts him amongst the greatest cricketers of all time. Of any country. Of any age. End!

It's almost as if the knockers are so desperate to demonstrate their vast knowledge of the game to the rest of us mere mortals that it doesn't matter how great an achievement, their superiority is such that well... you know... if you consider this... or take into account that... well it's... you know... not that good. The only pity for me is that he couldn't play for Lancs a bit more often.
