I find it hard to believe he did though. Stalybridge seem to have a real small man syndrome when it comes to County for some reason. This ^^^

made the decision not to go, due to the weather, expected bank holiday traffic, inadequate parking at the ground, and also using up my day off when i have expectations of a sh*tty week at work. my blood pressure would probably have gone through the roof due to the M6 closure. kick off now scheduled for 3.30pm - sounds like our team coach was delayed.
...currently 'billie jean' is on pure. maybe i've just been unlucky with when i put 'player' on (i had to bugger about resubscribing to it as it had run out), but despite playing their 'home of stockport county' jingle, they've not mentioned......ah...they're mentioning the delayed kick off now. ooh...'waterloo sunset'!

I've heard the closure is due to someone jumping from a bridge.

obviously someone very troubled, but if it's into traffic it risks hurting others.

Despite the M6 closure made it to Lytham for 2:10 and got a swift one in before the bus arrived. One in the Birley Arms pre match but failed to spot any heaveners and all in all a decent first half!

Baggie's hamstring problem could mean a frustrating time at County, hopefully he'll get through it and become the star we all expected him to be.
Sounds like a deserved lead so far, and a coolly taken penalty too.

Yes, it is a bit worrying about Baggie. You can understand NY wanting to pick him as he clearly makes a big difference to the way we play, but he obviously needs a little more time to get it right. Hopefully they took him off today as a precaution before he knackered it again.

limped off though apparently. you've probably all already seen it now, but they equalised early in the second half, and dyson made it 2-1 to county five minutes ago.

f***ing commentary went off during injury time, they went back to the studio and put music on. when the fella in the studio came back in, he had to sheepishly announce that county had scored the winner while i was listening to the strains of some MOR shite. still, great result!

Yes it was a bugger to get to this afternoon, but it was good that they delayed kick off til 3.30. Parking was okay on Hillock Lane next to the ground.
I didnt hear them even mention the scorers of our first 2 goals. They also have a scoreboard which says AFC Fyle 0 Visitors 0...in my mind thats very disrespectful to not even mention the opposition.
As to the Fylde fans, they had a young girl and a boy on a drum and that was it. Other than that very poor support from their supporters.
Crowd was 1077 or there abouts which means we must have taken at least 677 if not more & the half time draw prize was the princely sum of £41.
Richie Baker went off to 'you went for the money' and 'county reject'.
Half decent ref, could only really fault him for not at last giving a yellow for the penalty foul.
Abs penalty cooly taken into the left hand corner. Dyson from right hand side into left hand corner and Kirby with a great strike with I think his left foot certainly took the smile off their goalies face.
The free kick given against Ledsham outside the area was well struck I think by Rowe into the top right hand corner (looking at the goal).
A much more coherent performance from County, just feel we need to close them down more in midfield. Just need Colley to put one away- he did go close tho'.
Superb support from the County contingent, with Ledsham walking behind the goal at the end which was a nice touch.
Pretty poor from Fylde not allowing match highlightsto be posted. I think we need an extended match highlights of the return match (30 mins), so every other club can see Fyldes tactics.
Roll on Saturday...

Enjoyed the match. Met up with Beefheart and Mrs Beefy in the pub before the game (2 hours before the game !!!!). Saw GTS wander past where I was seated with two local mates and made contact with Macca prior to the game.
First half highlight was counting the sheep in the next door field, until a woozey run into the area from Kirby resulted in a penalty (sans yellow card) - coolly dispatched into the bottom left hand corner by Abs. Very even first half with plenty of effort and endeavour but little end product at either end.
The Fylde half-time team talk obviously worked with the equlaizing goal coming within 2 minutes after a superb save from Hurst. Gaps started to appear as the game extended and tired legs took over. Great second goal from Dyson "sweeping" in from a hard low free kick (inspired substitution).
I had just said "Rowe has gone absent without leave - watch him pop up and nick an equaliser, when he decided to take a coat of paint off the crossbar with probably one of the best hit freekicks I have seen for a long time. Still rising as it stretched the net. Absolute top corner. Sloppy defending on a clearance (Leadsham ?) led to the cheap freekick in the first place.
5 minutes of added time and Kirby slotted home as the 10 man defence all backed off him, just as everyone around had settled for a point apiece.
Disappointed Fylde had put up their prices to take advantage of a bumper crowd (senior railcard helped with a concessionary entry though). Smart little ground, very comfy seats and a view of Bowland Fell to die for. The late kick off was accepted in good humour. The announcer had a certain warped sense of humour and the choice of music (very loud) was eclectic to say the least.
Overall, a very enjoyable day out and a great result to match.
