This country is no longer a democracy, when the population becomes stupid enough to be so easily led and manipulated by the multi-millionaire owned media, is the day we've truly lost our free speech.
The Tories claim to love the UK and question that loyalty from anyone that doesn't fall in line, despite the fact they do more harm than good to the country the profess to serve on an almost daily basis!

A commendably restrained rant, in the circumstances, Fudgie!

And of course by predictably complaining that sympathisers with the black lives matters movement are trying to re-write history the lying gobshite we call our Prime Minister tries to, well, re-write history. www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/jun/12/boris-johnson-says-removing-statues-is-to-lie-about-our-history-george-floydThe tosser can't even tell a straight story about historical fact. The fact of the matter is that the racism in the US and this country is a legacy of European imperialism, an imperialism in which this country was to the fore and had been since the 18th century. Like it or not whilst the 18th century Whigs leant towards involvement in Europe the Tories were pro imperial expansion. Anyone who thinks that Tory imperialism was motivated by a desire to spread the enlightenment into hitherto dark places really should get out a bit more and try reading around the subject. It was designed to enrich this country by the exploitation of the indigenous population and in particular, their natural resources. It's no use lauding Colston for his philanthropy in Bristol when the largesse he was bestowing on the city was made on the back of slavery. It's no use lauding Churchill for his leadership during WWII without considering the whole, including say the Bengal Famine of 1943 and while it's right to be outraged by the holocaust inflicted on world Jewry by the Nazi's it isn't right to ignore the (possibly worse, the figures remain disputed and are impossible to verify) inflicted on the Congo by the Belgians. The best thing Johnson could do is shut the f*** up because ignorance like his adds nothing to the discussion. Unfortunately that is I suspect, likely to be a forlorn hope since re-writing history is about the only thing he and his useless Government of clowns excels at.

I’ve just seen a clip of some muppets on the south coast standing guard over a Baden Powell statue. It is so important not to let them take the narrative away from the issue of systemic and indeed endemic racism.
On a similar note I don’t know if any of you saw the tweet from senator Ted Cruz in response to the toppling of a statue of Columbus. American jihadis he called them. In fact they were native Americans and any reading around the story would tell you that he was an absolutely evil bastard.

Ted Cruz is a Republican. He believes in the inalienable right of the wealthy white man to exploit those around him for personal profit and will cheerfully quote the white man's God as justification for his actions. Not unlike Columbus in fact. It seems that the US hasn't moved that far over the 250 years since independence.

I honestly had to check that this didn't emanate from a parody account. So, the take-home message is that Tim Tams will ease our worries about Brexit! You couldn't make it up...

We currently export approximately £300 billion worth of stuff to the EU. We currently export approximately £6 billion to Australia. Pardon me for suggesting that you'd need to be a Brexiteer to think that the one will replace the other.
Since our exports to Australia have risen consistently during the last few years as...erm...a member of the EU perhaps someone could explain why we need to exit the EU to increase our exports to non-eu countries

so, the take-home message is that Tim Tams will ease our worries about Brexit! aren't they an apparently better version of the Penguin? i'll p-p-p-pass if that's alright - a slight improvement to the very average isn't what the (flying) doctor ordered.
oh FFS. i have now actually watched it. he's actually waving tam-tams around.
