Sadly it seems that there is a bit more to this than meets the eye. He's been linked with advice to Non-Doms reference tax "efficiency", dodging to you and I. In other words off-shore it to beat the system In that case, good riddance.

Maybe its is time to cut scotland and wales and at some point northern ireland adrift and leave them to their own rule? Consider how much in benefits and other monies we wouldnt have to pay out and also they take with them their share of the debt. then perhaps austerity would end quicker?
the only issue we stay united on is defence, each contributing to a communal pot which is pooled to provide the uk as a whole with an effective military service across the lot.
They all have infrastructure such as education , medical , housing etc...but in order to leave they must have their own currency, for ease of trade links a passport would not be required, same = tourism etc...
I am not against any part of the uk i just think if the scots want it so badly then let them have it, others too of they want it but there is no comeback if it fails unless an undertaking never to devolve as a separate country is ever considered again. But again any accrued debts do not become part of the any reconciliation, they do not become english debts!
then perhaps we can put english back on to our bloody forms instead of white british !

If the home secretary has any guts she will refuse any monies going into the EU until its is agreed that britain has its borders back under its own full control.
watch them panic lol

Hi Stuinedgeley, it's interesting to note that all economists who have stated an opinion on the matter have made it clear that in their view more austerity runs the very distinct risk of taking this country back into recession. Some have gone as far as to state that further austerity is merely idealogically driven, that is, that the Tory party are deliberately identifying a section of society, the most needy and publically blaming them for all the worlds ills so that they can stick the boot in.

I am not against any part of the uk i just think if the scots want it so badly then let them have it more than half of them don't though. they told us last year. voting SNP the other week was different because that showed that they do want more control of their own affairs, just not as a separate entity.

Interestingly, if you take the 49% that voted for independence and presume they continued to vote the same way in the general election (ie SNP) then that translates almost exactly into their share of the vote in the general election. Divide the better together vote by 4 (labour, Tory, lib dem and UKIP) and with the first past the post system you get 56 SNP and 3 the rest

i was just putting forward a few thoughts........ i can see why keeping together is a sensible position in many ways including the EU but i do feel that the SNP who have stated that they are going to push for an unofficial referendum in scotland regardless of last times result or what westminster thinks and are determined to go their own way.
it wouldnt surprise me if the scots voted down changes needed to improve things just to get their way on separation. They dont seem to like us very much in some parts of the place which is fair enough - all opinions to be considered. Alex Salmond is saying yes scotland will go independent and Nicola Sturegon is saying no it wont got that far but does want devolved powers in certain areas on top of what it already has.
I believe the final percentage of votes in the referendum was 45% yes - 55% no , but i may be wrong. I dont think they have forgiven us for 9-3 at wembley lol

yeah, i thought it was 55/45 as well. the dream ticket for the SNP was a coalition with labour. an outright tory majority means that they can't vote anything down. there might be a few tory rebels on the odd vote, but it will take the DUP, greens, labour, lib-dems, SNP, plaid cymru and UKIP's mighty single seat PLUS a few tory rebels to actually challenge anything.
although 56 SNP MPs helps the SNP in negotiating a better deal for scotland, an outright tory majority means that they're still relegated to being a small voice in the broader tory plot for our downfall...

One of the best films ever made in my opinion, a seriously understated classic.
