I wonder how many Greaves would score in today's games given the amount of games they play ? Greaves 266 in 379 games Kane 267 in 416 games Slight difference in the standard of pitch surfaces as well. Couldn't agree more, Banksy, not least regarding the state of the pitches. My late Grandad always said the greatest goalscorer he ever saw was Greavsie, and he knew his football - so that's good enough for me. A phenomenally prolific striker, the likes of which we will never see again.

Some interesting games coming up this Tue in L2:
FC Wimbledon (15) v Stevenage (3) Barrow (11) v Salford City (6) Gillingham (20) v Bratfut Citeh (8) Harrogate Town (21) v Northampton Town (4) Tranmere Rovers (13) v Crawley Town (23)
Salford could overtake County, Bratfut could go level on points but behind County on GD (unless they win by 9 goals....).
Fingers crossed Stevenage and Northampton continue to slump, Bratfut draw a blank and Salford and Barrow grind out a God-Awful 0-0 draw with a few red cards.

Some tricky journeys for the promotion/play-off chasers there. On the basis of what we have seen on our travels (and bearing in mind, too, Gillingham's recent change of fortunes), I would say that Northampton might have the best chance of getting a result - although, as you say, AH, they are not in the best of nick themselves at the minute. Fingers crossed for home wins all round!

Bragging Time:-
I have played in a youth trial on Rotherham's ground. 1971.
Also took our primary school Blackpool FC champions to play in the EFL knockout cup northern section finals there. They thought it was like Wembley !

Sad to see Scunthorpe relegated straight out of the conference yesterday. It will be a long road back for them, one we all know too well.

Sad to see Scunthorpe relegated straight out of the conference yesterday. It will be a long road back for them, one we all know too well. I totally agree, Duds. Early in the 2008/9 season, when we played them at EP after our Wembley promotion, they - along with Gary Hooper - gave us an absolute footballing lesson. It wasn't that long after that encounter that our slide to where they've just gone now began, and it seemed as though we got there in no time at all. In fact, they'd just dropped down from the Championship the previous season, then bounced straight back up through the play-offs in 08/09. I think it's so sad to see a club like them go through what we did, but it's the fans that I feel for most as they're the ones that suffer, just like we did. I really hope they can find a way back, and much quicker than we did, but it's going to be tough.

Really sad news for my nearest club. Peter Swann is getting a lot of stick locally. He's sold the business now, but left it in a mess. It's difficult as he made his money in hospitality and lockdown killed his business. No football income during that time and no other profits to prop up the club. New owners now and a fiercely loyal fan base, so got to have hope the club will survive. Unfortunately, the ground is on a prime retail site, so the vultures will be circling. As we know, it's a long way back. Yeovil and Torquay also on the brink.

On that score really sad to see Nantwich Town and Stalybridge Celtic both relegated from the Northern Premier League to the NPL Division One West? or whatever?
