I can still see them getting a squad together and making it through the coming season.

You've got to be really confident to try showboating in that situation!!

It's been coming, with the only surprise being that it's not happened sooner.

Sad, but probably inevitable given the recent history.
I am afraid to say that this could be the start of many going the same way.
Southend the next in trouble, apparently.

Huge shame for the Macc fans but can’t say it hasn’t been coming. Hopefully they get organised and manage to start up a successful Phoenix at Moss Rose as it doesn’t look likely that the current entity will be saved.
Hope also Sam Walker (and their other staff) get fixed up for next season soon.

It just shows how cavalier Macc have been and were still being by signing Sam, when they knew there was the strong possibility of them going to the wall - they deserved everything they got. Weren't their fans gloating at our drop into regional, part-time football? If so, then f*** 'em.

The 13th court appearance in 18 months so hardly a surprise. The problem is that if there are people trying to cheat the revenue, other folk who are genuinely trying to save their club(s) are tarred with the same brush. Let's face it, cheating the revenue is basically cheating everyone who pays their tax bill.

The ownership of the club in Amar Alkadhi's hands has been an utter disgrace, but around and about me in Macc are plenty of genuine, loyal supporters - who, to their credit, never gave me a hard time when my team was going for six against, and later dropping further down the pyramid than, theirs. They are absolutely devastated about how it has come to this - and particularly for an outfit with a proud history that, until recent years, was very well and prudently run by local business-people, who could be seen during match-days working on the turnstiles or in the ticket office rather than swanning around the boardroom (or away from the ground altogether).
I hope for them, and for the town, that the name can somehow live on in football - at whatever level it may be.

I hope for them, and for the town, that the name can somehow live on in football - at whatever level it may be. That's a very good post, Maccy. I'm going to take on board your view that not all Macc fans revelled in our plight and retract my 'f*** 'em' comment from the decent ones, rising above those that did in the process and hoping those that didn't can still have a club to support. It's easy to get carried away with one's views and not see the bigger picture, so I'll take back what I said. Communities suffer heavily too when clubs fold, with shops, pubs and take aways taking a pretty big hit in the process. Then there's the regular trip to the match which is taken away from many families, leaving them to find something else to do, but nothing else can quite replace the football club you love and the togetherness it brings to those families and friends that share that love. I wish the right people well and keep my fingers crossed that their club can somehow carry on, but I hope the arsehole(s) that got the club in this mess get everything they deserve. The fans that gloated at our decline? f*** 'em, because we're better than that. Good luck to Macc and their fans.
