Is there anything left to surprise us? Mystery over ‘Morty’ statue removalMystery surrounded the removal of the statue of Stan Mortensen at Bloomfield Road today, just days before it was set to be used as the focal point of fans’ protest.
There has been no confirmation that the statue’s disappearance is linked to the planned protests, although Blackpool FC were unable to comment on its removal this evening.
A timetable for Saturday’s protests released by the Blackpool Supporters Trust and the Tangerine Knights named the statue as a gathering point before Saturday’s lunchtime match against Huddersfield.
Steve Smith, spokesperson for the Tangerine Knights said: “We met with the police on Monday and were told we couldn’t hold any form of demonstration on club land, including the area around the statue.
“We were told if we planned to lay any memorabilia around the statue there was a possibility Karl Oyston would take out a civil trespassing injunction before Saturday.
“That would in theory allow him to pick out named individuals who go near the statue through the civil courts.
“We feel the removal of the Mortensen statue is all too coincidental.
“I’m sure Blackpool fans will be making their own minds up until there is an official explanation from the club.”
The statue was erected in 2005 outside the stand named in honour of the legendary Pool striker, who scored a hat-trick in the 1953 FA Cup final.Article hereAwful times, I really hope it gets better soon, it's a great old club.

Good God, literally taking away the fans right to free speech!
We live in Britain, Karl!
We're a nation that believes in big speech, not rich children who spit their dummy out!

The AVFTT fan site is in total meltdown over this as things at the club dissolve into absolute chaos. I have refrained from writing about the demise of a wonderful family club as I don't want to be sued by a certain family. I suggest you go on their site :- fansonline.net/blackpool/ and follow the action that is being planned for this weekend. Any postings by guys called Raggy and Afroman are a joy to behold. Even James Corden, and Jason Manford have joined in.

Awful times, I really hope it gets better soon, it's a great old club. Seconded, gazza. Their fans are going through a thoroughly undeserved living hell right now - especially after enjoying their 'season in the (Premiership) sun' in such recent times, when 'Pool were every neutral's favourite top-flight club. While wishing the Seasiders all the best, going forward, I will, however, rather cheekily be hoping that they lose to Huddersfield this weekend - as that would see them replace County as record-holders for the lowest Championship points-haul...

Sorry, deleted post as the Blackpool supporters page link I put up had a few "iffy" comments on it.
I think all The Blackpool fans are wishing for the same, Macca. They want this seasons debacle to be recorded for posterity under the current leadership.
For those not up to date please go to the AVFTT site and read.

Is there a specific thread on AVFTT worth reading, with that in mind, Lennie?

Shocking what's happening to the Seasiders - one of my favourite clubs. I wish them all the best and hope they can get rid of the Oystons as soon as possible. It's criminal what they're doing to a proper football club.

Look at the one called "Timeline", Macca.
It's long but only covers the last 12 months (unbelievably).
"Jason Manford Restracts (sic) Statement" is very funny.

Great to see a couple of relatively high profile celebrities come out in support of Blackpool!
Even my mate who is a Preston fan is going supporting Pool this weekend in a show of solidarity for local football and not to have one of the Football League's most historic clubs ruined by greed and idiocy!

Blackpool's match earlier today was abandoned just after half-time, due to a crowd invasion that wouldn't go away. Perhaps not a great surprise, given the tensions that have building up - particularly in this last week.
Not clear, as yet, whether the game will be replayed - behind closed doors, if so, possibly... or on a weekday morning?
So very sad, all the same. And we are still none the wiser as to County's continued presence in, or removal from, the record books!

It was a peaceful pitch protest (no arrests made inside or outside the ground).
It kicked off a bit in the stands as some people infiltrated the Directors' Box.
Wouldn't be suprised to see Pool starting the next season in League 1 with a ten point deduction, no manager and no signed players. That is what it has descended to folks. League 2 and the Conference beckons.

Karl Oyston will be rubbing his hands with glee. He has all the money he is ever going to get from Blackpool. It must be time for him to go. The Walking Football team are gearing up to play in the enforced replaying of the game (if that is the decision) as both Pool and Hudders will have all their players away on holiday. The chap on the mobility scooter has been signed as up as Pool's new striker for next term.

Confirmation that the abandoned game will not be replayed: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32582510Interesting, as an aside, to note that the rationale underpinning the Football League's decision was based on there being no implications for promotion/relegation. This, after we and Hyde were made to go through the motions of a 'dead rubber' of a match, following the original's postponement with two minutes left on the clock...
