Sadly, England will not be missed on their own.
But it sounds like Germany are totally p*ss*d off with the corrupt set-up as well. It would be interesting to see where Platini would stand if there was a European backlash.

FIFA is the most corrupt organisation on the planet, The sooner Blatter dies (because thats the only time he'll leave that post) and there is fresh blood in there the better.
All European teams should boycott that world cup and stage an extra Euro's instead.

EUFA don't get much right either but having the 2020 Euros spread around the continent is an excellent idea which FIFA would do well to consider. Rather than individual countries bidding to stage the finals, they could be awarded to each conference in rotation with the conference body having the right to award to an individual country but also the power to do it on a distributed basis if they so wish.

I like the idea for a one off but I'm not sure I'd like the tournament always like that or you lose the classic titles, Italia '90, France '98, England '66 etc

Better than blowing the grass-roots budget on bribing for exclusivity.

We need a successful 'Kerry Packe'r to start a rival World Cup organisation hopefully corruption free.
Blatter is well past his sell by date and it appears that anyone who throws there hat in the ring as an opponent then gets an investigation set up to investigate / discredit ? them.
The whole things stinks and the sooner Blatter is kicked ut the better.
He must think we are stupid. How he gets away with god only knows.

Sepp Blatter is a disgrace. He is an absolute expert in dirty politics, but knows nothing about football.
He was asked who's his favourite Qatar player? He said Eric Clapton. Da-dum tish

It would be interesting to see where Platini would stand if there was a European backlash. would definitely be a lot more interesting if germany also suggested withdrawing - two former world cup winners including the current champions... but it would have to be all the big sides in europe - the dutch, french and italians, to have real credibility. i like cf's suggestion of playing an extra euros instead. i don't really want to see england miss out on a world cup - nobody south of hadrian's wall does - but it's time that countries/associations started to stand up to fifa because we've seen it will never change otherwise.

I read that Qatar are bidding for the 2024 Olympics. The IOC seems to have rid itself of corruption, so hopefully they won't succeed.
I'd love to see how they explain the Marathon in 45C heat - perhaps they'll propose building a 26 mile perspex tunnel and air condition the route. Or hold it in winter and call it the... oh hang on.

Qatar has just won the athletics World Champs. They will move to the autumn (end of September into October when the temperature is a mere 37 degrees) and the marathon will be held at night!

They will move to the autumn (end of September into October when the temperature is a mere 37 degrees) and the marathon will be held at night! shows how money talks. it will work as its proof (or otherwise) for the world cup, two and a half years before that is due to start. of course if it were to fail, there are several well-placed european countries who have the stadia and infrastructure to hold a world cup at relatively short notice - spurs will have their new stadium, anfield will also be 60k etc by then for example.
