The latest results:
Tuesday 2nd December
Lorient (countyfan) 1-1 Marseille (Sirius) - tie-break
Wednesday 3rd December
Bastia (eliminated) 1-2 Evian Thonon Gaillard (Another_Ruined_Saturday) Montpellier (Hatter in Macc) 0-2 St Etienne (Shropshire) Nice (eliminated) 1-2 Rennes (Market Harborough) Lille (eliminated) 1-1 Paris St. Germain (Big Fudge)
So we bid a fond farewell to Hatter in Macc, who was eliminated in a cruel twist of fate by his favourite French team, St. Etienne. I suspect they won't be getting a vote in Week S of C.H.U.M.S. either now...
Maccy will be joined by one of countyfan and Sirius who go to a tie-break decider. Since the next round of fixtures start on Saturday, we best get this sorted quickly, so the tie-break question for you two is:
When will the first goal be scored in the match between Lyon and Reims (both eliminated) tonight? Answers by 5pm please.
I'll announce who goes and who stays in the morning, followed by this weekend's fixtures.

It's their chants from the terraces of 'Nothing can stop us now' that spurred them on to the win

The tie-break decider between countyfan and Sirius was to predict the time of the first goal in the match between Lyon and Reims last night. Their guesses were:
Sirius - 23 mins countyfan - 37 mins
The answer was.... 6 minutes, so we bid adieu to countyfan and Sirius' mighty Marseille go marching on.
We're now down to our final 5:
Paris St Germain (Big Fudge) St Etienne (Shropshire) Marseille (Sirius) Rennes (Market Harborough) Evian Thonon Gaillard (Another Ruined Saturday)
Fixtures to follow...

The next round of fixtures are as follows:
Saturday 6th December
Paris St Germain (Big Fudge) v Nantes (eliminated) Rennes (Market Harborough) v Montpellier (eliminated) St Etienne (Shropshire) v Bastia (eliminated)
Sunday 7th December
Evian Thonon Gaillard (Another Ruined Saturday) v Lyon (eliminated) Marseille (Sirius) V Metz (eliminated)
So, everyone has a home tie, and no two teams are playing each other. A draw will be enough to see everyone safely through to the next round.

Paris St Germain (Big Fudge) St Etienne (Shropshire) Marseille (Sirius) Rennes (Market Harborough) Evian Thonon Gaillard (Another Ruined Saturday) well mine are literally the only big name left in this...if we can score it like scrabble instead then i'm away and laughing...

We have our final 3! Here are the results from over the weekend:
Saturday 6th December
Paris St Germain (Big Fudge) 2-1 Nantes (eliminated) Rennes (Market Harborough) 0-4 Montpellier (eliminated) St Etienne (Shropshire) 1-0 Bastia (eliminated)
Sunday 7th December
Evian Thonon Gaillard (Another Ruined Saturday) 2-3 Lyon (eliminated) Marseille (Sirius) 3-1 Metz (eliminated)
So we say 'adieu' to Market Harborough and Another Ruined Saturday (the latter of which led twice in his fixture, only to be eliminated by a last minute penalty) and our finalists are Fudgie, Shrops and Sirius.
I will now jumble up the 17 teams that have been eliminated so far in the competition, and ask that our three finalists respond to this thread by picking two numbers each from 1 to 17 (paying attention to any numbers that have already been taken). Each finalist will then have 3 teams for the final, and the usual rules will apply: 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw, none for a loss, but also one point for every goal scored (regardless of the results). The final weekend of fixtures could potentially start on Friday (if any of you choose Lyon or Caen who play each other Friday night) so please try and choose your numbers by the middle of the week.
Cheers
Le Sandre.
