This will be an epic duel and survival of the fittest. I hope to see Turner back at his best weaving some magic and him and our forwards putting them under sustained pressure.
Hopefully we will control the midfield better and not sit so deep. I'm forecasting this will go to extra time.

It sounded like Kiddy had kicked on a lot from the earlier season's showing. Unfortunate to not only have Cowan limping off when doing well but made worse by Minihan and Mantack out too. I'm sure that it'll be an area they will look to exploit even if they had plenty of joy on their right too.
As well as the option of Thomas to fill in, there's the potential for a back 3 if Smalley returns with Thomas or McKenna at wing back. I can't see Dux at RB for this one - if he struggled with their pace, O'Halloran would surely not cope either. From interviews, it sounds like someone will be coming in to fix the left side as JG consistently highlights it as a weakness. A couple of times he's praised a particular local player who can go in there and is also comfortable in progressive areas so whether he turns out to be a target or it's someone else completely only time will tell.
It was Kiddy who had the midweek game before Sat so, fingers crossed, at some point they will get tired even being the pro side! I think it seems likely both teams will again go with strong sides, even if there are a few changes apiece and, so long as minds are in the right place, that'll it will be extremely tight once again.

The Third-round draw has been made, and tomorrow night's winners will have the 'reward' of a trip to Maidenhead United.

well we are doing at the moment lennie. just had a call from my brother who has braved the cold as one of 883 courageous souls. reckons that kidderminster have probably had more efforts, but we're 2-0 up, with turner having got one and mckenna the other; so it looks liked we're heading to berkshire.

Berks, here we come.
3-0 - what a great result. Just need to do that week in week out in the league as well.
A bit more cash in the coffers and a dream of Wembley.
Fabulous.

I'm still not bothered about this competition, and will be really annoyed if we drop points on Saturday due to tired legs. However, goals for Turner, McKenna and Dixon is exactly what the doctor ordered, and so is game time for Winter -- and for Thomas at right back.
Does anyone know what the Cowan situation is?

Cowan was never going to be in contention for last night - given that a dead leg needs a few days from which to recover properly. My understanding, though, is that he should hopefully be alright in time for Saturday.

Cheers, Maccy. That's a relief, as he has been very strong this season and we don't have natural cover in that position.

Yup, certainly don't want to see us do a last season's Brackley who dropped points in the league for a couple of months while progressing in the FAT. As you say, the counter to that is goals and game time so can only hope there's no knock on impact, especially with Southport strengthening and improving form. Aside from a giveaway, Winter looked strong in the highlights which was good to see.

Did anybody else notice Oswell and Dixon debating who would take the penalty? I would have thought Oswell should take it given he is the striker. I did notice that after Dixon had scored it, Oswell walked away and didn't celebrate or congratulate Dixon. Hope it doesn't cause any upset in the dressing room.
