Supporters Cooperative Update.
Stockport County Supporters Cooperative Football Season Calendar 2019/ 2020.
We are delighted to announce that our Football Season Calendar (2019 / 2020) will be on sale at pre-season games. It is just possible that they will be ready for the Cheadle Heath Nomads game on Saturday 6th July, but we are more confident of availability for the Stockport Town game on Tuesday 9 July.
The A3 size calendar aligns to the football season, i.e. covers August 2019 to July 2020, and includes all of Stockport County’s fixtures, including the FA Cup and FA Trophy (as well as highlighting the date each round is drawn).
Every month, you are treated to a magnificent picture of the Blue Army doing what they do best, i.e. supporting County home and away as they went on to win the National League North Championship.
If you followed County last season, it’s almost inevitable that YOU appear in at least one of the pictures.
So, for a mere ten pounds, you can get yourself a Stockport County Supporters’ Co-op Football Season Calendar to hang on your wall and get started on planning next season!
A sincere thank you to the sponsors who helped us fund production of the calendar:-
• Whitby Cabs (despite not having any cars in the Borough!) • Drive with Martin (www.drivewithmartin.co.uk) • Ye Olde Vic, Edgeley (www.yeoldevic.pub/en)
And finally, our appreciation to the Club, who kindly gave permission for us to publish all of Stockport County’s fixtures in the calendar.
Water…..Water !!!!!!!!!!!!!
At this point an apology !
The last Newsletter contained an entirely inaccurate item.
Headed ` Are You a Food and Drink Vendor? the item went on to invite interest from anyone willing to possibly supply food and drink at the upcoming Hatters Half Marathon on 8 September.
That was in error as food is being supplied again this year by our good friends `Get Active Nutrition` who are providing some flap jacks.
What we really need is a supply of water for athletes on the day, and maybe some other items to give to the runners( Bananas would be a good idea).
Water however is the number one need, so If there is anyone out there who can oblige us in this respect please contact peter.towey@hotmail.co.uk
Thank you.
What`s On at the Spinning Top ?
Thursday 4 July : `George the Concert` starring Nick Bold as George Harrison,
Friday 5 July : Muffin Man + CO Lee
Saturday 6 July from 9pm…
The long awaited return of ST favourites `Ten Eyed Man` Truly… a gig not to be missed !

Born in 1922 Neil played to distinction 26 times for England, twixt 1946 and 1950, but with top players still only allowed to earn a maximum of £12 per week ( dropping to £10 in summer) Neil became the original `soccer rebel` and headed off to Bogota Columbia where he played briefly for Independente Santa Fe for a living wage. It was an unhappy time for Neil who returned to UK to an FA ban. He eventually played 24 times for County during season 1957-58 being part of the County team that beat First Division Luton Town in 1958. The reason is that I had thought that the Club Shop had taken a quantity when in fact they had not, thus I put the correction out.
With apologies for the delay.

If the 'potential investor' can't be convinced to step up after a Championship winning season on what must surely have been a modest budget, then they're either not really interested in County and never were, or there are other factors putting them off.
My opinion? Not going to happen.
"We are going to be signing a left back on loan this week on a Youth loan for an initial period of 6 months."
I thought this was a season-long loan?
"We expect to report a small profit, after the concerts are taken into account"
If the pitch and drainage hasn't been damaged, then this has to be a regular feature during the close season at EP to bring in vital revenue, then the profits used to either pay the rent on the ground or go into a pot towards buying it back. Either way, the ground can then effectively pay for itself.
"In this case, if it wasn’t for the Blossoms, this w ouldn’t have happened at all. They wanted to perform at Edgeley Park as part of their summer tour. This was arranged for the Saturday, then as Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott have the same promoter, it was agreed to have them perform on the Friday. When tha t sold out so quickly, a second night was added. Promoters have already been in touch highlighting b ands that could come to EP and sell 15,000 tickets. "
Blossoms always promised to give something back to the Town and to County and they already have!
"The Council deserve a lot of credit for their help and input in getting this event on. Simon Dawson also deserves great credit for the amo unt of work he put into ensuring the concerts went ahead."
Agree on both counts.
"CGC have the contract until the end of the calendar year. Negotiations with them are ongoing and a tender process is also in place."
The only negotiations taking place should be with other suppliers. See below:
"John Giles provided the Club with the results of th e Community Ticket survey. All of the comments were positive, with people vowing to return to EP in the future. The only negative comments surrounded the catering"
Superb effort with the Community Ticket Initiative, with the comments regarding the catering saying it all.

The gist seems to be that we remain a small club living under two big shadows and as long as so many of their supporters continue to consider football to be a game best experienced from the comfort of their own sitting room or a pub it's going to take some changing. I'm glad to see that attracting young supporters before they fall for the dubious charms of the two Manchester clubs has been a success and I will continue to be very happy to support that initiative.
