Won yet again by a team that didn't win their league the previous year.
It would be less ridiculous if they just renamed it back to the European Cup.

all about the branding gazz, even if older fans in particular have a problem with what it represents. disappointed as well that qpr have gone up. i wouldn't wish for any club -particularly one with the historical heritage of qpr- to go bust, but football needs teaching a lesson, and their finances have been absolutely disgraceful. their spending was ridiculous and ill-judged under mark hughes, but the january transfer window of 2013 where they spent alarmingly again to try and keep a financially listing ship in the premier league, i found genuinely shocking. they had two 'keepers last season who were on a combined £150k per week, for instance. and when you're in a desperately poor place with your income and outgoings, 'bring in harry redknapp' does not seem like the most sensible solution. as bad as it might sound to say it about another club, i hoped they would go into administration, lose the players, staff and ownership structure, and start again with just the great name of queens park rangers, and the cracking little ground that is loftus road. instead, they've staved it off and snuck into millionaire's row by the back door. i suspect it's just postponing it though, and they could, according to a bbc article, be fined an absolutely huge amount if they post losses above £8m at the cut-off point. last year their losses were over £60m...

I've said for a while it shouldn't be the champions league, firstly it's not strictly for champions, secondly it's not a league!
The biggest joke came in 2002 when Bayer Leverkusen almost won it despite having never been champions.
First place and main domestic cup winners should be the entrants from any nation I think. Nor should there be earlier rounds either. The champions of Andorra are still champions, 4th place in England are not.

Speaking about that game I did enjoy it. Atletico were unlucky to concede so late on and their heads just dropped.
However their tactics to stifle Real were shocking which is poor given that technically AM were the favourites!
4-1 was a harsh final score but glad Real won especially since Simeone is such a kn*bhead.

4-1 was a harsh final score but glad Real won especially since Simeone is such a kn*bhead. Totally agree, I will never forget what that cheating little get did to us in 1998. Beckham should never have lashed out, but Simeone did a proper number on us.
