Shame. I quite liked him.

I watched Match of the Day last night when he announced it. My first thoughts were "good" because I don't like the way he just dribbles on all the time.
Fear not though Fudgie, he'll be in Brazil to tell us all in great detail how rubbish England were!!

I never understand why they get pundits from countries who aren't in the World Cup. Yes it's unbiased but who wants unbiased?

I quite liked him at first (in the 90s and 00's) but lately he has become a cliche of himsself. Every analysis is just a list:
"He showed power, pace, technique, composure, skill."
Compared to what Sky do with technology and the use of stats, he (and Match of the Day) look behind the times.
Still, I'd rather listen to him that Strachan...

Strachan brilliant at the one line reposte.....
"And in which area were you second best today, Gordon ?"
"That bloody big green rectangle out there, Alan"

i think he was long past his sell-by date, but then you could definitely say that about lawrenson and shearer as well.
i'd like to see more of martin keown now hansen's gone - he's pretty astute, can express himself, and likes to jump into ruud van nistelrooy while going 'aahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh', so he'll do for me!

I've tried to be constructive in response to his leaving but to be honest, and with the upmost respect, I really don't care.

Lets get a campaign going. Ian Holloway to replace him. He would be brilliant.

I don't remember the last time I watched MOTD but I can't see that anyone who hasn't played or msnaged at the top level for over 20 years has much to contribute to a discussion on the modern game. Whatever you think about the morals of the business, Sky wipes the floor with terrestrial channels in all its sports coverage.
