So, do you want to move on to the late 2000s? We'd be crazy not to, right? I gotta feeling some of us may struggle again to find a lot of great songs. Don't cha be M.I.A, you young folks - get sharing your songs and stories.
But, while you wait for the others, here are a few to get us started...
Chelsea Dagger - The Fratellis I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor - Arctic Monkeys One Day Like This - Elbow Back to Black - Amy Winehouse The Pretender - Foo Fighters

Down to four.
2005 Coldplay - Speed of Sound
2006 Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars Razorlight - America I took my wife out to Australia for our first wedding anniversary. Saw her son in Perth, went to the Melbourne Cup and the first day of the Ashes in Brisbane. The 2 songs above were on the Singapore Airlines sound system and are my abiding memory of the 48 hours in the air.
2008 Elbow - One Day Like This
My top pick has to be One Day Like This, a modern classic.

Two of your starters - namely, Back to Black and I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor - made my short-list, too, Eppers. But here is a quintet of tracks without them...
2005
Radio Luxembourg: Pŵer y Fflŵer
My Welsh-language song of choice from the era when bands from the Land of my Fathers were making an impressive and important impact. This one, translated, means The Power of the Flower - as you may well have figured out already!
2005/2007
MGMT: Time to Pretend
Different versions of this, and of the also-excellent Kids, were recorded for the Connecticut duo's debut EP (as 'The Management') at the start of this CHUMY period, and, a couple of years later, for their first album, Oracular Spectacular. Take your pick - both iterations are ace.
2006
Nelly Furtado: Maneater
Uptempo synths, in-your-face vocals. Whoa, Nelly! Hasn't aged a jot.
2007
Foals: Mathletics
Math rock that was loud and funky.
Rihanna: Umbrella
Loved this for its genuine 'us-against-the-world' vibe, and its supposed effect on a summer when it simultaneously rained for weeks on end. The only flab on the track was Jay-Z's branding-exercise verse that brought nothing extra to the party - and could have been left out.
But, returning to where I and this week's thread started - my selection for the ballot paper is I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor (2005). Revived garage rock, with rapidly-delivered, sharp lyrics that hit the spot. Oh - and Arctic Monkeys owed their breakthrough to the Internet, too. The times, they were a-changin'...

2006 Sometimesitsbetternottostickbitsofeachotherineachotherforeachother - Hot Club de Paris All Too Much - Gomez Put Your Records On - Corrine Bailey Rae The Boom Boom Bap - Scritti Politti Lloyd, I'm Ready to Be Heartbroken - Camera Obscura Stuck Between Stations - The Hold Steady
2007 Fluorescent Adolescent - Arctic Monkeys Colleen - Joanna Newsom What's a Girl to Do? - Bat for Lashes 1 2 3 4 - Feist
2008 One Day Like This - Elbow The Modern Leper - Frightened Rabbit White Winter Hymnal - Fleet Foxes

2005
Dare - Gorillaz Dakota - Stereophonics The Importance Of Being Idle - Oasis Boulevard Of Broken Dreams - Greenday I Predict A Riot - Kaiser Chiefs
2006
No Tomorrow - Orson Is It Any Wonder - Keane
2007, 2008 & 2009
Totally blank, an absolutely awful time for music.
Is It Any Wonder by Keane is the standout for me, an absolutely brilliant track.

Agreed, gazz. This is such a poor era for music.

Not too late at all, duds.
Like the quality of music in the late 00s, I've been pretty poor with managing CHUMY this week. Hopefully work has calmed down and normal service can resume 😁
I'll leave this open for this week and post the ballot paper over the weekend.
I'll also kick off 2010 - 2014 over the weekend.

I will get around to putting out a few thoughts but I'm busy painting all hours at the moment.

No rush, len. 05-09 will either take 2 minutes or 2 days! There is a lack of quality in this era, so it is likely to be a few quick obvious songs or ages trawling the archives searching for scraps!
Either way, painting and watching it dry might be more interesting compared to the 60s and 70s 😁

Arrrggghh.
Just done a year by year and lost the thread before I posted.
SO let me think again (npt in any particular order time wise or favourite) :-
Valerie - Zutons Dakota - Stereophonics Your Love Alone is Not Enough - Manics I predict a Riot - Kaiser Chiefs Chasing Pavements - Adele Human - Killers The One I Love - David Grey
Rest I have forgotten so they can't be that good.
So my votes for this week are;-
1st Stereophonics - Dakota (because I can play this)
2nd Human - Killers (because |I still can't play this !!)
Cheers

Here's thecresult of the vote for this week...
In 2nd, we have:
I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor - Arctic Monkeys
And, holy cow, our favourite song for 05-09 is:
One Day Like This - Elbow
Thanks for the songs and the votes - in what was a seemingly weak 5 years, these are two belters!
