We can have as many songs as we want on the thread - the more the merrier.
I think we've settled on 1 favourite from each contributor to go into the vote for the overall winner.

Howlin' Wolf - Killing Floor 'Spoonful' is my favourite Howlin' Wolf song, it's absolutely sublime. Save that for next week, gazz! Spoonful was '67 And Killing Floor is the defining moment in the electric blues movement - apparently...

1960 -1964
Struggling with the early 60's so The Shirelles - Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow (1961). Great song and really pertinent in this day and age when going through 3 or more marriages is common.
The Shangri Las, Leader Of The Pack (1964) Marlon Brando and motorcycle influenced, when British motorcycles were the best in the world. (Altho' Ceefer is a cat it is also a reference to one of my m'bikes - a BSA C15 Star 250cc). Ronettes Be my baby (1964) and anything by Phil Spector. Although he was allegedly a bad lad, his musical production was genius. Roy Orbison 'oh pretty woman' (1964). He had everything but still tragedy stuck when his wife was killed in a motorcycle accident. In the 80's I was at a party in Bolton and I heard a series of Roy Orbison songs coming from the next room at the club. Imagine my surprise when I opened the door only to see the man himself playing.
Françoise Hardy: “Tous Les Garcons et Les Filles” (1964). Beautiful voice and she went on to international stardom. Sadly in 2021 she announced she could no longer sing due to cancer treatments.
Petula Clark - Downtown (1964). One of mums favourite.

However, my comment was more generally about Howlin' Wolf covers as that is where the conversation went with my friend in looking them all up and how many big names there are.

Right, then. The plan for voting has evolved over the week!
I'll post the list of everyone's favourite song this evening.
You'll then have next week to PM me your first and second choice votes.
Anyone can send me votes, even if you didn't post any songs.
I'll post the results on the Friday.
I'll set up 65-69 on Monday so, this can be running whilst we're deciding on a 60-64 winner. (My long list is currently at 45 songs 😲 We've got a Whole Lotta songs to pick from and For Once in My Life I've no influence, but we'll all be Happy Together)
All perfectly clear and simple 😁

Here's the list of songs for voting for 60-64. As this is about our favourite songs (and some of the associated memories), it's a wonderful mix:
The Animals - House of the Rising Son Elvis Presley - Fame and Fortune The Beatles - And I Love Her Martha Reeves & The Vandellas - (Love Is Like A) Heat Wave The Kinks - You Really Got Me The Drifters - Up on the Roof The Shangri Las - Leader Of The Pack
(ceef, I selected one from your list - let me know ASAP if you want a different one)
So, PM me your 1st and 2nd choice before the close of play Friday.
I'll then reveal the first track on our CHUMY playlist.

Not long left to vote. I'll post the winner tomorrow and the first song on our compilation LP (can't bring myself to say 'playlist'!)
The system is 2 points for a first vote and 1 point for a second vote. There are currently 3 songs vying for top spot.
