Paddy, just seemed to be almost everywhere on a pudding of a pitch, and he played some lovely passes that other players didn't always read right.
Honourable mentions for Tanto and Woots who were wrestled all over the pitch.

I also recorded the game last night and have been watching it again this morning, as I gave up trying to get back to sleep having been woken up on my day off at 20 to bleeding six by Miss 'Ten snoozes'.
Anyway, I digress. I'm never afraid to admit when I'm wrong, and I'm more than happy to take back what I said regarding Paddy's MotM award on Sky.
Paddy gets my vote too.

Yes, the skipper did really well behind the front two - and his tee-up for Touray's goal was sublime. Paddy gets my vote, too.
Talking of Ibby, a 'highly commended' for his appearance as an early sub. By far his best showing as a Hatter thus far. Kane, in a very impressive debut, and Richards also had a huge impact on the momentum-switch after their introduction for the second half.

Yes it's strange how Touray seemed to rise to the occasion against his old team but Bailey somehow didn't. Fingers crossed Richards can really come into the side and, as I said somewhere else, maybe play the ball carrying role that Louie Barry did so well - DC certainly seemed to believe that Richards has a lot more to give. He said the same about Will Collar and, injuries apart, he was bang on with that.
Anyway On To Crawley and, hopefully, three points.

I just looked Paddy up on Wikipedia because I wasn't sure how old he is. So he's currently 34 and, like all of us he's getting older. Now as players, in any sport, get older, they lose a bit of their physical performance - pace, strength etc, but there's a sweet spot where the player's mental performance can compensate for that fall off.
I mean the ability to read what is happening on the pitch, to see the threats and the opportunities, to identify the right pass or run to make and then the technical skill to execute that decision. That's an awful lot of mental processing but with his experience and his knowledge of the players in the squad he seems perfectly suited to playing that sort of "influential" role as opposed to a more physical role.
That said I thought Wootton and Tanto both also did well to keep competing given the mauling they got from Salford's players and the abysmally weak referee. Tanto's goal sums it up beautifully. A nice flick from Woots but then Tanto at his best - a burst of speed, holding off the challenge from the Salford defender and then slotting it past the keeper. After all the Cr*p they'd had to put up with, that was a beautiful moment for them both: well done, and keep it going.

You only have to look at Teddy Sheringham's longevity at the very top for a perfect example of the great Bob Paisley's "first two yards are in your head" assessment.

I was really impressed with Rico's contribution. The momentum and running at players was what we needed. He gets my vote. Paddy 2nd.

Really good to see him get more than just a few minutes to show what he could do, Ceefs. He should feature a lot more now, going forward.

2 solid signings in Kane and Rico. Rico is definitely what Tanto needs, just like Louis Barry was / is.

I was extremely impressed with Kane. Judging by that, he should start on Monday night.

I was extremely impressed with Kane. Judging by that, he should start on Monday night. Agreed, Maccy, he slotted in nicely with no dramas, a very solid start.
